Location: in the land of enchantment | Hi, all! Just joined to learn more and share what I know about my guitar. Here's what I know so far: I bought it in the late '90's.(At least I think that was me.) I was told at the time that it was one of 3 made. Uh-huh.I got curious a couple days ago about it, (o.k., so I'm a little slow.) so I hit the web in search of info, and here's what I found out:
Kim at Ovation said:
"The serial number dates the guitar to January 1995, although the components may be a bit older than the assembled & finished product. It was never produced as a model, although apparently a couple escaped from the factory as gifts, employee sales, etc."
Mike (thanks Mike!) said:
"An Adamas 3 as I called them, (although there was a real 3 with triangleish shaped holes). There were about 30 of these made. The necks came from Status basses in England.
A very cool guitar, I've got one. They sounded real good and were well made. The other Adamas 3 came off as trying to be cheap, which is exactly what it was. It had a wood neck.As you probably figured out the GN means Grafite Neck
To answer the question Miles, It's not a Q proto, it came before the Q, eearly 90s if I recall correctly.Very rare and cool guitar."
And this is what is said on the Ovationtribute.com site:
"I do not know the exact history of this guitar but 3 copies seems to have been made.
Probably built in 1998, the neck is made of carbon and the holes are directly inspired
of the Prototype #23 whom is at the factory in New Hartford."
This is all I've found out, anyone else have anything to add?
I haven't quite figured out how to add the pictures to this post, but there are some not-quite-professional pics in an album under my user name. I think...
Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say.

As I said, they are not the best quality, but this sweetie is minty-fresh, with a loud, deep voice.

Location: CA | Why didn't I think of that — a guitar with cupholders! Seriously, that's a new one on me (which happens about every week on this site). Very pretty and unusual guitar. What are the 'chopsticks' made of and how are they attached? |

Location: in the land of enchantment | hahaha...the 'chopsticks' seem to be made out of plastic, and attached with glue, as there don't seem to be any 'attachments' on the inside. |

That's about the most unique Ovation ever! CONGRATS!
I do like the charcoal grid concept to keep the hot briquettes outta the body... |

Location: in the land of enchantment | Thanks for the welcome, all. I wonder why the Ovation guy didn't mention it was on the wall of fame. He seemed to think it was an escapee from the factory. How it hitched a ride to the burbs of Chicago, and into a guitar shop, well, I'll never know. |

Location: in the land of enchantment | Thanks all...next? hmmm...maybe the 12 string, 1 of 12, made for Melissa Etheridge, circa 1995...at least that was what I was told...but first need to pry it out of a friend's hands, to confirm. But 'till then, this is it. Right now, I'm looking for more info on this one. Once it quits raining out here in the desert, I hope to take better pics of the now renamed Sushi-bar-Special. |

Where's the "land of enchantment"? We were just talking about Madrid the other day. Well, I was talking about yours but the other folks were talking about the land of sangria.
Nice, rare guitar. How is the neck attached? The other graphite neck Ovations (ok, ok Adamii) were a "neck through" design.
About the sound holes ... I'll bet Kaki King could tune those chopsticks and add some real different sounds to her mix. |

The necks were bolted on just like the K-bar types from that time period.
The sound hole covers are copies of the ones on #23(or is that #19?) that I always thought were the coolest, so I had them do recreations for these guitars.
Of the 30 or so made most were sold, so that's how it made it to Chicago. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | I had it explained to me that Land of Enchantment was what they liked to tell everyone who came to New Mexico. The people we talked to who lived there called it the Land of Entrapment, meaning that once you went there you liked it so much that you didn't want to leave, so you stayed.. |

And yes, Beal, this place will entrap your soul.
It's not the best place to make money, but if you want to create, or recreate yourself, it truly is a magical place. |
