Yes, he was wacko but love him or hate him, a very talented entertainer. RIP, Michael.

Cardiac arrest is the latest.

What price fame. No matter how strange he became, he was a brilliantly talented individual who had an enormous impact on pop culture and music. So sad.

True story. He and Sony were sued for copyright infringement by some lady claiming that he ripped off one of her songs. Trial was held in our court. He appeared and took the stand. To the question of how he creates his songs, he testified that they are in his head and he just starts humming a tune, then puts words to the melody on the fly. Asked to demonstrate this, he goes into at least a one minute demo where he is singing something original that nobody has ever heard before. Later that day, the media lets it out that he did this. The next day, there were so many callers asking to buy a cassette tape of the testimony, including what was essentially a never before heard, uncut, unscripted original song by MJ, that the trunk lines coming into the federal telephone lines in downtown Denver closed down. We had something like 10,000 requests before we finally obtained an order from the court regulating the requests. It was insane.

He was gifted, pivotal to music history, opened doors as far as color and music genre are concerned and had a real love of people.

He also had way too much wealth and not enough real people in his life to lovingly kick his a$$ when it needed kicking.

I am so glad I have you all to keep me humble!

I'll always remember where I was when JFK was shot and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.

Not to take anything away from MJ as a person or his importance to pop culture and music, but I kinda doubt I'm going to remember his demise past next month. I was gonna say next week, but the investigation/funeral/eulogies will be all over the media for at least that long. Seems like everyone's all but forgotten Ed and Farrah already.

I never really cared for the man or much of his music; he definatly had some issues and was just too strange...However, I did like "We Are The World" co-written w/Lionel Richie...no denying he was a huge celebrity and for what its worth, he was a classic case of an abused kid who may very well have grown up to become an abuser himself...he had everything and yet he had nothing...so sad...

Overheard two schoolgirls chatting this morning. One says, "Was it cardiac arrest or didn't his heart catch fire or something?"

Because the paramedics were from the LA Fire Department.

Farah and Ed died of cardiac arrest too. Must be something in the water. I heard he choked on a Hardy's ham sandwich and is actually still alive and living on an island with Elvis and JFK.

Paul, given your line of work you should know better than to make a statement like that

He was an alleged paedophile. Not only that, he was an alleged paedophile who used his wealth and influence to buy his way out of the judicial process.

What he did with his music, Thriller and the others of that time period, and his work with Lionel Ritchie and Quincy Jones was truely outstanding and took it all to a new place. It wasn't my favorite but I can respect it.

Then there's all the rest of the story, which in my mind eclipses the good.

Kinda like OJ...............

Here's a blurb from the nypost. It looks like mccartney gets the beatles catalog!

It's unclear how much will be left in his estate. Jackson had planned a series of comeback concerts, slated to begin in London next month, to replenish his cash flow, and the London Mirror reported that he left the Beatles catalog to McCartney to make amends.

The NY Post citing the London Mirror  . None of that is true. MJ did have some good lawyers watching out for him. His lavish lifestyle was costly and he was in huge debt. The scheduled London concerts (50 sold out arena shows) would have helped his financial situation. He bought the Beatles catalog of songs for $50 mil and sold half of it years later for $150 mil. The remaining half was placed into a trust to protect it from creditors.

MJ - only in America can someone be born a poor black kid, and die a rich white woman.

In accordance with Michael Jackson’s will, little boys’ pants shall be flown at half-mast today.

(and quite a few others that are far too rude to post here)

Both Jackson and Ed McMahon were Millions of Dollars in debt...

How can these people earn hundreds of millions of dollars, and then die in Debt?

For perspective: at $27,000 a year, I would have to work 37 years to earn a Million bucks. Before taxes!
