Me again, sitting here a bit bored and with sore fingers, so I thought I'd stop and put this up for sh*ts & giggles or whatever. Hope you don't mind that it's a non-O, very windy, post.

I can't find much more than a user review from Harmony Central about this guitar, and I was surprised to find THAT. I have some inquiries in. Anyone wanna take a guess as to what it's value might be? The review, which much of I agree with, reads:

"Made in Sweden in 1967 by the Goya company -- imported by the Levin company. Hagestrom also imported using the Goya name during this time -- but this one is actually a Goya made by Goya.

It has an Alpine Spruce top with polished Mahogony back and sides, white double binding, a rosewood fret-board and bridge, and a bone nut and saddle. (Looks like plastic pins) The tuners are covered and a unique shape I have only ever seen on this guitar an in the Goya catalog.

It is a "Concert Size" which means it is slightly smaller than a standard dreadnaught, but larger than a parlor size. It has a full scale neck.

It is finished with a french polish (shellac) that has mellowed nicely.

A pretty but unassuming little instrument.

Absolutely fabulous sounding guitar. Woody, mellow, throaty. Perfect for either blues, blue-grass, or folk guitar. Sounds like hot-chocolate in front of a raging fire. The closest I have experienced was a Martin from the 1930's.

The sound is its best feature -- what else really matters? Oh -- I know what else matters -- I didn't have to spend thousands on a vintage martin to get the sound. <> I'll probably pass it on just like I pass on all guitars -- gotta keep them circulating ..."

This guitar is quite a little beauty in person, and for a small guitar, has a surprisingly loud but mellow tone. Sadly, she has been somewhat neglected by her previous owner(s), but has no permanent or unfixable flaws that I can find other than a few finish cracks ...

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

What exactly was the question ..??..

As it was .. GOYA was MADE by LEVIN !!

A SWEDISH git . Mfg.

Made for the AMERICAN marked , it was decided that the name LEVIN would Not do .. so .. a more appropriate name was adopted , the choice fell on GOYA ( deemed to be a bit more " classic " ), therefore , GOYA gits. are LEVIN gits. , with a Different label ..

Trivia :

LEVIN pronounced in SWEDISH = Layh-Veehn

Good Quality stuff ..

..hope this helps ..

Thanks, Vic. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I was just wondering if anyone might have an idea of it's value.

WILLA :
The one ye describe is a typical 3/4 size beginners git. , in-expensive , yet of rather Good quality , GOOD Tone -Wood ( usually SOLID Spruce Top , some with CEDAR Solid Top , FAN -Bracing ) .., Well constructed , ..underrated IMO , with a tag of say around 200 - 250 USD worth , Pristine condition ( overhere that is ) .. , even if it is the Nylon-string version ( usual ) , it can go Plenty Loud.

Thanks, Vic. I didn't think it was worth very much, but it sounds pretty damn good for a 42 year old guitar! ;)

Mr Levin worked for Martin before he went back to Sweden and started his own company. Eventually Martin bought the company from him. (They hate it when the compitition is as good or better than they are.) If it is a pre-Martin Goya, it is probably worth a little more than $200 or $250, but it's not something you should sell anyway (unless you want to sell it to me :D )

Hey, Alison. I think the guitar is pre-Martin buy out. The January 3, 1967 price list shows it for $176. It sure has an impressive sound for the little thing it is. I've had it forever, but if I let it go, you'll be the first person I call! ;)

It does look nice. Looks like it has a seperate 'saddle' for each string?

If I remember correctly, a French polish can easily be 'revived'. The method is easy, but much elbow grease involved.
