If you're in the city this weekend you might want to go check out the old Manny's Music on 48th street. Sadly, they are all but shut down but Sammy Ash has taken advantage of the wall space to display his collectors series guitars.

Ovation had a sort-of tradition that every year one of the first few s/n collectors series guitars would go to Sam. I even heard that all of his were s/n 4, but not sure if that's really true. Anyway, he's got the who dang set minus 1 or 2. Those have been loaned to him for this display to make it COMPLETE.

Many of you have seen the display of Collectors Series at the factory and it's a pretty impressive sight. So if in the vacinity of midtown I would definately suggest you go take a look.

Everyone knows "The City" is San Francisco.

I got to see the entire display in New Hartford a few times. Yes, I would like to have a wall with all of them on it. Some truly great guitars, and the others are all pretty nice too.

Manny's as we knew it is closed and it's an overflow for Sam.

I always wondered where the 47RI s/n 4 was (as well as 1 and 2). Could it be...?

For folks on the west coast at least, "The City" needs no further explanation. Having said that, lived there for a while years ago and recently visited, I would have to add a few more rather perjorative adjectives before the phrase. But one of the best is "nice place to visit...."

Hey, could someone who's going stop by my place and take me along? It can't be THAT much out of the way.
