| Hi all, I'm planning to buy my first Ovation. I can't decide between these two, they both seem as great guitars. Just wanted to ask which is better. I thought CSE44 at first but I don't know. Which preamp works better OP4B or OP30 ?
Price-wise I thought CSE44 was more expensive but I found it at musiciansfriend.com at 379, while the CC44 is priced at 429.
Some help please! Thanks all. |

Also you can upgrade the OP-30 to an OP-Pro or an iDea preamp.
Most of the newer CSE44's have the end of the fretboard looking like the more expensive Elites.
Especially considering the CSE is on sale, get it now!
Now... Which One? |

I just bought a CSE44 with OP30 here so that I could put in the iDea preamp, it's a direct replacement.
CSE44 is solid top CC44 is laminated top.

Then I found a near mint US made '95 Legend.
For $300.
Whatever you get, it will be good...
Ovations have a great sound!

A solid top will "open up" with age and playing and will sound better. Nice guitar, welcome again and congratulations! |

| Spalted maple will be a laminate, as will just about any figured wood. You'll get better tone from the CSE44. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Once again... You can upgrade an OP30 without cutting the body.
Nothing else will fit in the OP4BT's hole.
The CSE has a solid top.
The CSE has a prettier end to the fretboard.
You can find a case for less than a hunnert bucks if you are patient.
Think that full price for a case is $129...
So $300 is about average for a CC44.
(Also, I would be sure that it even has a case... Looks like they just cut-n-paste the description) |
