Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming | Something seems to be a bit wrong with the electronics in my 1651. Every other string seems to have a weak (or no) signal, i.e. the A,G and E are weak (I'm probaby hearing a weak signal from the ajacent string's crystal. The E,D, and B are loud. This pickup has two plugs going into the preamp. The preamp volume/tone pot is just a little scratchy, not too bad at all. And the preamp seems fine. I thought I had this fixed because when I pulled the pickup out to check, it looked like one of the shims was to long and was pushing real hard on the wiring right where it goes into the bottom on the pickup. I shortened the shim a tiny bit. I'm sure I got it going but it didn't hold. Does this sound like a short at that wiring juncture? Would a short there cause every other string not to work? Is this something I can fix or should I just replace the P/U? I'm not very good at soldering those tiny wires. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Check the battery. The first thing that goes is one channel of strings. Unless you're using twin amps or a stereo amp/PA set-up, use the mono output. |

Location: Central Florida | If you've inadvertantly plugged into the stereo output of your guitar, that will cause the effect you're describing. |

Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming | OK, let me take this a step further. When I plug into the mono input the E,D, anb B sound perfect. The other strings don't - they sound weak. When I turn the volume max - to the very end, the volume drops slightly, but all strings sound. When I plug into the stereo input there is no sound at all until I push it to the very limit. Then, every other string sounds good - but this time the A, G, and high E are clear as a bell. The pickup works as I've heard all the strings project. Do you think it's the preamp? Or could it possible the input jacks. |

Location: Tennessee | Try switching the leads going to the preamp. I had a simliar problem with a reissue 1651 that came from the factory that way ... Mr. Big suggested seeing if it was just cross wired. It was and the solution worked. |

Location: Tennessee | Mine were the ones from the jacks to the preamp. Switching the mono and stereo jack leads into the preamp completely solved the problem for me. |
