Randy - I'm working on some of the slack key stuff and I've hit a snag.

The song that I'm working on has some hammer-ons on the 5th, 7th, 9th, and 12th frets. The 5th fret is fine... but as I move up, I get more "dissonant" sounds as I hammer and less of the actual note. Is there a trick to this? Maybe heavier strings? I'm using the 47RI with EJ16s. The song is "Manamana Lele" and is in Taro Patch tuning.

Thanks in advance!

what strings are you hammering on? i always use medium gauge for slack as the heavier tension is best.
because your high E is tuned down to D and the action on your 47 is low, you should try a heavier gauge.

Thanks Randy. It's the High E string. I'll give mediums a shot.

just try a medium high E string and leave the other EJ-16's on.
