Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | It's been crazy-busy around here lately so I'm just getting around to this now. I got the Parlor guitar that I bought from Trader. (Thanks Iffy!) What a sweet little guitar it is. The pictures Trader posted made me drool, but in person it is just stunning. Great sound plugged or unplugged. Comfortable too. When Karen comes out next summer, she will have something comfortable to play that won't hurt her shoulder. I now own 9 guitars, not counting the ones hanging in the shop for sale, and four of them are Ovations. I had one when I joined this board a little over a year ago. If this keeps up, I'm going to need a bigger house! |

Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Alison, I'm still somewhat rankled by your/TJs parlor beating out my '97C in tone and projection.
So, assuming I can make it out next year, I'll be bringing two new sets of strings for a rematch.
That is one awesome lil' guitar. And the burst is gorgeous!
Enjoy and wear it out... |

Ovation Marketing should resurrect that body and start selling them again in both center hole and Elite styles. |

I've been jonesing for an Adamas for quite awhile now, and had pretty much decided that when I finally got mine, it would have a parlor body. Then Mitzdawg got his special creation, so my idea isn't so unique, after all.
But...when mine is finally made, she will be unique unto herself.

[/QB] Calling the original parlor bowl a "Collector's Edition", and limiting production (small numbers = large productions costs and Large Marge price) was the first nail in the coffin; Small distribution means not many made into folk's hands to try it out; so there's no word of mouth to grass-roots the thing. Then top it off by being "different" so people are scared of it.
I'm not surprised it tanked - Lack of sales is a natural result of having those cards stacked against it.
But produce it in quantity to get the price down, get enough on the walls at GC to let parents see that it's a better fitting, nice sounding, rugged guitar for younger players, let experienced players see that it's a decent sounding small-body, and they might have better luck this time. I don't think I've seen anything negative review-wise from anyone on this forum. Everyone who has tried the Ovation Parlor likes it!
The biggest difficulty in bringing it back is that Ovation seems to have made a promise that they will never reproduce a "Collector's" model.
So maybe it comes back as a highline Celebrity? |

What's the story behind them - why didn't they fly? |
