I'm really warming to the 97c, it's quite unlike any other Ovation/Adamas and is likely to remain with it's friends for some time to come. I'm glad I bought a wide nut one.

Location: Flahdaw | Dweez, you take the most amazing photos. One thing I noticed though....the D & G strings at the neck seem to hit and rub the slot holes. Am I seeing that right, and won't that eventually cause a problem? Maybe all slots are like that, I don't know. |

That's easy to do with Ovation slotheads, like the 08C. Part of the issue that I see in the pics above is that the problematic strings wind inward toward the center of the peghead. I make sure to wind them outward towards the buttons so they move progressively away from the center with increased winding (if that makes any sense). |

Location: Midland, MI | When I bought my first Ovation (1868-4, natch), the shop had a 97 Collectors on consignment. The seller wanted $2k for it, IIRC, and was not willing to negotiate. It sure played nice, and I liked the size.
Great looking guitar, dweezil. I love the looks, especially with the markerless fretboard and natural binding. |

Location: Brighty in Blighty | First off it has to be said the 97c is a very addictive guitar. I find I just want to grab it and cuddle it ;)
I think the one I have is the one on the tribute site. Hohoho.
Anyhow mine has mini perloid buttons which whilst are OK I'm going to replace them with the original buttons which were ebony (gibber gibber gibber gibber!).
Now I reckon this 99c (serial 0424) MUST have passed through a few members here, so c'mon what's it's history people?
