OK, I've purchased several thump picks for evaluation. But after viewing more than several vids, where do ya'll wear that sucka?

I've seen 'um from the nail position up to the first thumb joint. I've always had an issue with the tension on that appendage regardless of the position or pick size. What am I missing here...?

I won't be any help... I have a heavy Dunlop thumbpick and a medium Herco thumbpick...
They both stinketh!
Well, let me rephrase... I cannot get them to work for me either.
After experimentation I have decided just to use my Thumb and Finger nails.

But! I will be watching this, cuz if someone actually knows how to use these I wanna know too!

I have settled on "slick picks" after trying a number of them. I was nails only picker for years, well when I played. After picking the guitar up again after a 1-15 year hiatus I found my thumbnail would no longer grow without splitting at the end and eventually breaking. I like the way and position the slick pick fits. Interesting it comes in different thick nesses but I have settled on the thick for my 1767. The thinner ones produce too much volume to me and tend to overpower the other strings. The thick ones produce almost a mellow bass that seems to blend well. But that is just me. Here is a link to the pick as well as a photo of how it sits on my thumb. I do notice after a while the sweat can cause it to turn a bit but for the most part it fits snugly in this position. I think the fender pick goes way to far up the thumb for my taste but then again it is probably just me. I found it somewhat a transition getting used to the thumb pick and sometimes even now it seems foreign.

Slick pick (mine are white)

Could never get thumpicks to work for me. Seems like they should be at a 45degree angle rather than perpendicular to the thumb
