Location: DFW, TX | Hello.. First post here.
I just purchased an Ovation Ultra 2178 Vintage Amber Burst guitar from Ebay last night. It even came with a hard shell ovation case.
This is my first a/e guitar purchase, first ovation, and pretty much a beginner.
I have been reading a lot over the last few days and was wondering what all you O Fan's think about this particular guitar.
I got the guitar and case for $375. Here is the auction with pictures. Seemed like a great deal. I went to Guitar Center and was looking at some of the Celebrity ones, but wasn't that impressed with them compared to another I tested out there.. then I found this on eBay.

Anyway, really excited about it.
Be honest, its all an opinion anyway..
Thanks and glad to be a part of the OFC!

Location: Tennessee | Nate ... welcome. GREAT deal on a GREAT guitar. Much better than the Celebrity for sure. I have one of these (the round hold version) and can't believe how good they are for the money. I love that Amberburst top, too. You got a fantastic guitar for a beginner. Stick around . .. I see more guitars in your future. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Some of the recent Ultras were the best bargains out there. They were solid tops, 5 piece necks and seemed to be the same as the USA made Ovations, except they were made overseas. The ones I played sounded great. Looks like you got a good deal. Enjoy it and welcome to the OFC. |

I've never owned an Ultra but I've heard they are decent guitars. Parts made overseas and assembled here (assumming this was made 2008 and before)As a "begginer" you have done very well!!
Enjoy it now as it will NOT be your last!! ;) :) |

Location: DFW, TX | From what I have read, it seems that this model was offered during 2008. The serial # is 7092048, but not sure if I can tell from that when it was produced.
This thing is in mint condition.
Here are some details about it:

and

I talked with the owner at http://www.oklahomavintageguitar.com/ and he stated that he had one recently that sold for nearly $679 new.
Thanks for your replies and glad to be here!

Location: Utah | I've never played an Ultra, but it sure looks like a nice guitar at a great price. Op Pro, deep contour bowl, beautiful top. Should be one of the best buys you ever made. |

| Nate, welcome! That is a great deal on a really pretty guitar.
Welcome to the magnificient "O"bsession. I just bought my first Ovation myself, after longing for one for quite some time. I am finding that having an Ovation is like Lay's potato chips -- you can't stop at just one!
I wish you many years of enjoyment with your new guitar.
