Location: big island | aloha folks,
da udder day, i uploaded a sound clip from a radio program i was interviewed on back on july 6. i was asked to play my guitar on live radio which was a nervous first for me.
a few minutes ago, i added a song i recorded using my 1688 12 stringer. i played "moonlight lady", which is a song that was popular in hawaii in the mid-70's and recorded by gabby pahinui's band. my vocals still suck pond water but i recorded it anyway cuz it's not often we get to hear nice sounding 12 stringers here. this was recorded in my bathroom using a zoom H4, which was sitting on top the clothes hamper. i couldn't keep my foot still so you will hear an occasional "thump". click on my page link below and "moonlight lady" should play automatically. the radio interview is the second song on my playlist on the left.
mahalo for listening! |

No pond water in that one brother. 12 string sounds great, I like the July 6th interview slack key tune also, you are a talented player!!
See Ya,

Location: big island | thanks, dave and anita. i've been playing my stanford with its wide, manly neck a lot lately. my fingers are spoiled. it's tough to get fully clear chords on the 12 stringer without adjusting back to it for several days.
too critical, i guess. i hear everything that's "wrong" with my playing.
(relax randy...you're WAYYY too old for american idol anyway!) |

(As it was recorded in your bathroom, I guess we're lucky a tapping foot was the only accidents we heard) |

listening to the song through headphones, the foot tapping, as it vibrates through the hamper, causes a subtle bass drum beat. kewl!
and thanks everybody. |
