Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I'm sitting here listening to my iPod and digging the cool tunes: all of a sudden, here's Matt Smith from the Chop Shop CD playing "As Tears Go By"...guitar, mandolin, slide guitar: it's just beautiful...
And it made me think how fortunate we are to have been able to have Matt come and showcase his awesome talents for us at Amelia and at the NJ get together...and to try to teach us in the process of making us laugh and enjoy our collective selves...
Matt, thanks for your music and for encouraging me to pursue my music; and I am sure others as well...
As much as the sessions were famtastic, the jams w/Davis and Co. were simply off the charts...some of the very best I have ever heard...
So, again...Thanks Matt! We are better for having crossed your path! |

If you read his bio and see who he has done sessions with, the recording artists certainly know who he is. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Now that Matt has moved to Austin, where my in-laws reside, I have a reason to go down and obtain a private lesson now and then. Matt is sensational, not only as a musician, but as a clinician and teacher. More often than not, the truly gifted aren't all that good at teaching. Matt is the exception. |
