Location: Indiana | I thought I take advantage of the brain trust here. I'm helping a friend research two guitars built by Miami. They were both bought in southern California, 1920's-30's. Excellent craftsmanship, strong Martin influence.
Any information on a period guitar manufacturer named Miami? I'm coming up with zilch.

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Well, if there's some U.S. patent on the instrument, consult the US Patent archives. They're public records, so something is bound to surface. |

Location: big island | looks like a decent martin copy or a guitar made by martin and stamped for the miami company. conducting a cursory cyber check yielded zilch results for me. there is a "miami vintage guitars" company in miami. i wonder if they've ever heard of their namesake? |

These guitars were used by professionals... the parents of the current owner. His recollection is that they were told when they bought them there was a Martin connection.
I just haven't been able to sniff out any info. Patent records is a good suggestion, thanks seesquare.
They are just so well built, it's hard to believe there would be no other examples out there. |

They do look like they were made by Martin. |
