Aside from the obvious differences noted in their descriptions (i.e., AAA/A Top, A bracing/Modified X bracing) what are the differences in sound quality and playability between these two guitars?

And what would be a reasonable price for a nice clean example of a Custom Balladeer (natural) w/ OHSC?

I've been fortunate in owning two CBs ('76 & '79) that had some sweet mojo. I prefer my CB to any Legend I've played. Just my .02FRN...

Vince,
I currently own a 1976 1112 C.B and a 1990 1767 Legend. While the Legend has the K-bar which does take a little getting use to (along with the overall heavier weight of the guitar) I would without question choose the Legend over the Custom Baladeer. The quailty of the Tone from the Legend is just heads above the Custom Baladeer.
More bass, nice mid range and clean/clear treble response. My former bandmate use to get pissed at me because I played too loud when plugged in. He would be playing leads and would claim he had his volume "way up" and couldn't hear himself because my volume was set too high. The problem was I had my volume turned off. Straight acoustic. CAN YOU SAY LOUD!!!

What generation Legend are we talking about here? 1970's with VT bracing? 1980's-early 2000's with A bracing, or the more modern Legends with modified X bracing?

And as to the Custom Balladeers, are we talking the mainstay of them with the X braced tops or the ones that came out towards the end of the run with the K-5 braced tops?

Different guitars all......
