Location: 6 String Ranch | I go out to trim a bush in the yard today. On the first pass the hedge clippers cut the cord. So I soldier it back together and it turns out that the motor got zapped too. So I take the weedeater and in 5 minutes it not only runs out of gas but string too.
I think I'm not supposed to be out side working today.
I'll just go play guitar, unplugged of course. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Hey, Bill, I can relate. The cord I use for the hedge trimmer has at least a full roll of electrical tape on it. I hate pulling a cord around, but my gas weedeater won't start.
SWMBO thinks the 45 trees and hundreds of bushes I planted are overgrown, so she paid somebody $800 last fall to trim the whole yard. Everything looked like a kid with a bad haircut for a few months and now it's overgrown again. Eventually she'll drag the cord for the hedgetrimmer across the pool one more time and the plants will have their revenge. I'll write a song about how much I miss her, unplugged of course. |

No cord or gas to mess around with, and between the two battery packs the thing only lasts about 20 minutes, then they have to charge for four hours.
Perfect. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've got the cordless weedeater and hedge trimmer, too. The weedeater works fine, but the hedge trimmer doesn't last long enough to do the hedge.
I don't dare let SWMBO do it. On the rare occasions she does, she always dreams up a bunch of work for me to do to make the yard low maintenance. And I didn't move to the land of wide open spaces to live in a condo. Too many people too close. |

And, Mark, thanks for the comment about your wife dragging the cord across the pool and its' resulting song--I needed a good chuckle. :D

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | There's this little restaurant next town over, rave reviews from everyone I know who's been there. My sister comes home from Ohio, but is too tired from the long trip for us to go over, so we eat close to home. Next time, my girlfriend and I decide to go out to eat there while her husband's out of state...but it's a week night and they're only open past lunch on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, another friend and I decide to go there for lunch...but there's a painter's dropcloth in the entry way and the sign indicating it's open says, "Asleep," and it's dark inside.
I've decided it's probably just easier to eat peanut butter at home...and play guitar. :D

Last amp I owned was a Traynor Bass Master MK-II
with a 4-10 cabinet and I traded it to a music store in or about 1975 for the 1621-4 that I still have today - can't remember the last time I had the guitar plugged into an amp either - maybe 20 years ago or more - guess I'm back in the stone age..lol
This is what I use to record with - pretty much have to eat the damn microphone to get heard but the odd thing is that it doesn't sound that bad and my wife says my mp3s don't sound any worse than the crap I usually listen to..lol

Location: Phoenix AZ | I've had the same two brothers doing my yard care for years. To say they were US citizens or even here legally would be a stretch, but that's pretty standard in this town.
Monday they show up and both have big smiles on their faces. So I ask what's up, why so happy?
"Ah, senjor Dave if gews just found dat gew will get free healthcare from amerika gews would be smiling too."
I wasn't smiling. |

Although I imagine they take home more than I gross, I know that healthcare will never be free for me... |

When I lived on the street, I'd just walk into a hospital. Get a free meal while I was at it.
They don't even bother making you fill-out forms... You're gonna lie anyway.
I haven't seen a doctor since I got off the streets five years ago. And I've been sick too.
Just go down and buy some OTC medicine and deal with it.
Now that I have become 'a responsible, productive, member of society' I got nothing coming! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | SWMBO is just finishing a month's worth of radiation treatment for a brain tumor. The daily zap takes less time than a dental xray, but the bill for the first week was $13000. So some of us get to pay a ton for insurance, then we pay a ton for the cost that isn't covered, then we pay higher bills because they charge us extra to pay for the "free" health care and a bunch of extra taxes to pay for the free health care. OK, I'm starting to sound political, but I'm not trying to be. |

Last Saturday was a particularly nice day because there was some type of women's distance race going on across the street in the park. Maybe a thousand very physically fit women running by in little jogging outfits. SMWBO later asked why it took two hours to complete what is typically a half-hour job. I told her I needed to start spending more time in the front yard. |
