Location: east coast usa | i recently purchased a 1967 balladeer in what the original owner called the original case. The case is black yellow velvet lined but not bowled out. When did ovation cases start conforming to the back of the guitar. and more importantly do ya think its possible that indeed i have the original case..

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I don't know there... I have seen photos of old Ovations that did, in fact, have squared cases with yeller innards. Or at least that was the case they were in, and the folks claimed it was an original case. There are folks here who will know for sure...

Location: Phoenix AZ | Yes that's the original case. They came in blue or orange lined. Yours is probably the orange that has faded to yellow. They switched to the cheap plastic molded cases sometime around 1970-71.

Location: Upper Left USA | I would keep the original O case in a safe place and use a newer one for protection.
They are not as strong but make a great resale point! |
