Location: Texas | I been bumming around ebay,tryin to sell an old Balladeer with no luck,but did manage to acquire a 6751LX,first 12 string I ever owned,looking forward to playing it.

In an all wood 12, it really depends which brand and the quality of the build...
I have never had a problem playing up to pitch on a Martin (newer), Gibson, Fender, Guild, Taylor, Breedlove, or other similar quality brand made 12 string; and I have owned many and still own several...Some of the older 60's Gibson and Martin 12's needed to be tuned down to save the necks but I have several older 12's that are just fine. Watching the humidity and temp are conciderations as well for those older 12's.
Any Ovation/Adamas 12 string is built to take it...no problem and no need to tune down...unless you're going for a sub-standard pitch or you have trouble singing up to pitch...I played an Ovation Pacemaker 1615 12 on the road for nearly 10 years: I went from temps in the 100's at an outside frat party to a air-conditioned gig that evening and never even had to retune...now that's quality! Same thing when I switched to Elite 1758 12's. |

I just thought might be a good idea to tune down a half step ?
