Location: Right now? | I bought my boys Epiphone Les Pauls. They are the ones they chose, one in a silverburst, one in a cherry burst and one with a golden flame maple top. They are very happy with their guitars! $600 is a bit steep, I think, but others on this forum can tell you for sure. Maybe if the seller includes shipping, but make sure you request bubble wrap and good packaging. Don't be afraid to check out Evilbay. They have lots on there at good prices. I think I paid $400 for my son's cherry burst and it arrived in gorgeous condition/
I have an Epi Masterbuilt (Masterbilt?) AJ500M acoustic, and that guitar is just incredible! I bought it because it sounds like a Martin to me (no flaming please!). Definitely a keeper.

Quick research tells me that the Les Paul Standards are going for $549 online, no case.
So you might want to go to a brick-n-mortar store, or hope for the best on evilBay.
I have a really cheap Special II. It is not a bad guitar, it might not have the Wow Factor.
Good Luck with that!
My Epiphonies! :p Both from evilBay |

Location: Yucaipa, California | ...I bought this one: SX Les Paul from rondomusic.com for less than $200. It plays as good as my old '72 Les Paul Custom...Honest! It is an incredible guitar! I added a hardshell case also from Rondo for $50 and I am set! |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | $600 could get you into a Gibson Les Paul Studio. The Epis should be about half that on the slightly used market as they depreciate rapidly once out the retailer's door. About a month ago, I came close to picking up an Epi dealer sign that also served as a display rack for an Epi Les Paul model. Of course, I was looking for a used Epi LP to stick in the sign and came close to pulling the trigger on a custom model for less than $300. When I failed to obtain the sign, I stopped pursuing the guitar. There's a bunch of them out there. |

You may have to wait until after they bury him. |

You may have to wait until after they bury him. I don't think it will make much difference unless he's signed it or owned it or a particularly rare model!!
I have an Epi SG Deluxe, it's quite a nice guitar.

Now see? With regard to the other "he or she" thread: THOSE guitars DEFINITELY look like 'males' to me!

Those are all I could find in cherry listed within the past month and still active. There's some other nice ones out there, but not cherry. |
