I have recently bought a 2002 W597 Adamas. On the Adamas website I notice that Ovation seems to have a variety of new preamps. Are these superior to the preamp on my 2002 Adamas? Would it be worth upgrading?

Timolin,

First of all, welcome to the Ovation Hive Mind!

I don't know of any one here with a W597 that has swapped out their preamps.

You can do a search for 'preamps' and get a ton of leads. I know that preamps have been discussed in depth in the past.

I'm sure someone will drop in later on with more helpful info.

Hang around and join in on the fun!

BTW, we sure are getting a bunch of Sunshine State Strummers lately!

a 2002 would probably have an Optima. If so leave it be, it's one of the best Ovation preamps. The other problem is that it's not really practical to change from an oblong preamp to the new kidney shape.

Thanks for the info and the welcome, guys. I actually had an Ovation Custom Elite in the 90s that I foolishly sold, and I've been ogling the Adamas for some years. This is a really nice guitar and was an excellent deal.

If your preamp look like THIS , don't change a thing. You've got the best.

That's exactly how it looks, and it does sound good. Okay, I'll stick with it, thanks!
