Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Any OFC members effected by the La Canada/Flintridge fire north of LA? I house-sat for a friend's wealthy relatives in a very nice place in Flintridge one summer back in the 1960's. Beautiful area. The Rose Bowl is relatively close. If there are any OFC members in this area, I hope you're safe and protected. Same with anybody in the path of Jimena along the Baja Peninsula. |

Location: Yucaipa, California | ..Thanks all,... fortunately the hills that are burning are farther away that the pictures indicate due to the lens foreshortening, however, fire is certainly un-predictable. One good thing (I guess) is that I only have one "O" to save if I have to evacuate! |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I know, I'm a worrywort, but do you have a "go bag" packed? We learned a couple of years ago that everyone who lives in a fire prone area should keep a suitcase or bag with all the important papers, medication, pictures, whatever else is irreplacable, packed and ready to grab. I also keep the cat carrier ready and at least one guitar in the case so I can just grab it and run. Never let the gas tank get below half. I keep a gallon of water in the car at all times and a few snacky things (like crackers). Also a towel. (The Hitch-Hiker's Guide was right.)
Please keep us updated when you can. I know I'm not the only one worried about you. Thanks. |

Location: Campbell River, British Columbia | Ah, one of my favourite summer memories was fighting fire in '71. Somewhat similar to going to war with fewer contradictions.
'Course I was still smoking then, so after a couple hours with a wet hanky tied 'round my mouth, black streaks down the face, someone would come to spell you and you'd step upwind and light a stick. Young, dumb, and stupid....but I sure was pretty back then.
Everybody stay safe as you can. |

Thanks for the concerns. This is really a special place!..... now, where'd I leave my hat? |

Location: SoCal | Actually there are no fires out here. We just put out this news once a year (and earthquake news once every 3 years) to discourage too many people from moving out here.... |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Just read that Floridas population shrunk for the 1st time in 60 years. I think all the old folks are on a cross country pilgramage to California. The media hype of the fires spooked 'em so they got as far as Arizona and said, Ah fuck it let's stop here. |

Bunch o' Redneck Loggers up here. And it Rains 9 Months outta the year, and snows the rest.
We got Fires, Volcanoes, and idiots who get stuck up on mountains and starve. (or fall off)
Oh yeah... We are due for a Tsunami soon. As soon as y'all tourists get to the beach. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | We don't have many fires this year--so our firefighters are down in California. This doesn't mean the Californians should move up here. We're just like Oregon, except for no ocean, less rain, no volcanoes, wolf hunters and usually a lot of fires. They don't have the interagency fire center here for nothing. |
