Location: Phoenix | It's not often I deal with Peavey customer service; in the 25 years or so that I've had Peavey equipment, I've dealt with them maybe 5 or 6 times (mostly just asking for schematics). Every time they've been very responsive, and this week was no exception.
I've got an old Classic 50 2x12 tube combo, in tweed, dating back probably to around 1991. Plays great, but I had one gripe: the chickenhead knobs are on the top of the amp, at the rear, with a chrome nameplate for all the labels for the knobs. The lettering on the knobs is UPSIDE DOWN. Great if you're standing behind the amp, but not worth a crap if you're playing like a normal musician and you have to look back at the amp to tweak a knob. Apparently their Delta Blues and Classic series all came that way, nostalgia look or something. Plus, the year this amp came out, it didn't have an efx loop--the next year's model did.
So Sunday night I emailed Peavey parts..."Hey, is there a retrofit efx loop kit available? And by any chance is a panel available with the lettering in the Normal direction?" Monday evening when I came home from work, email on my computer...yep, $25 for the efx and $12 for the knob plate. Too late to order that night, I had to wait till Tuesday evening to order. (Oh and a replacement leather handle was all of $4) I think shipping was $3.
Thursday afternoon I go on the back porch..and there's a box from Fedex. Correct "normal" chrome label plate, efx kit, and handle. Less than 48 hours from phone order to my door, for (an almost) 20 year old amp.
So, would I recommend Peavey to anybody else? Let's see... Their gear is reliable, its priced right, customer service has been outstanding, and their stuff sounds OK to me. Big thumbs up.
In a world today where the customer usually comes last, I had to let other folks know when a company does things right.

Location: Omaha, NE | I've got a Peavey Classic 50 4x10 and love it. Great tone, very versatile (clean and clear all the way to crunchier than I'll ever need), tough as a hammer.
My only gripe is its really more amp than I need. I never have the master gain much past "2".
You can spend a lot more for a boutique amp. But for day in / day out use, its hard to beat a Peavey.

Location: ms | Peavey will repair a church pa for free if it came from them. We had one in our youth room that we bought used. It got hit in a storm and they repaired it free. They seem to be really good folks.
