Location: Munich, Germany | Ralph's a member here as well - and used to be a longtime endorser for Musik Meyer and Ovation in Germany.
He did the music on the german Ovation homepage (that now is gone - with Musik Meyer no longer being the distributor for KMC) and has/had some very special guitars.
I got my Book bass from him as new as it could be.
Sure, this '47 is not a bargain overseas, but how often do you see them for sale?
Best regards,

Location: Alagoas, Brazil | It is a reissue. These are some excerpts of the text (sorry, my German is very rusty):
34 prototipes (serial numbers 27-61) were handmade before the beggining of series production. Some Guitar Stars had access to these guitars, like Paul McCartney, Marcel Dadi, Nancy Wilson, Cat Stevens, Neil Diamond.
The best guitar in this preseries was Nr 47, that Charlie Kaman kept for himself.
To celebrate the 30th Jubileum of the Adamas Guitars, Ovation made in 2005/6 an exact replica of the Adamas 47, hence the model number includes 247 on it. |

Bernie (from Germany) Danke. It´s been a loooong time since my German classes (15 years, maybe). And I don´t have a chance to practice, except reading something here and there. |

That's OK. I've learned English 35 years ago at school. And so I hope, you all understand what I mean in my posts here. If there were great mistakes, please feel free to tell it to me.

As with many of our Germany posters, your English is better than that of many of us Americans. Don't be shy. The only thing I was able to teach Karl when I was over there was that our Ws are not pronounced like our Vs. I studied German 40 years ago in school and I couldn't even begin to speak or write any coherent sentences, except if I needed to order beer. |

Based on my recent trip to a number of countries in Europe, no matter how hard we tried to speak their language (pick one, any one), they answered back in English. Their ability to speak English is 1,000% better that our ability to speak their native languages. |

Bernie How can I be the judge of that? As Iffy pointed out when we met on G8r´s: my accent is VERY THICK, but he could understand. |

Location: Germany | Thanks Willa...maybe I will miss her sometime. But the last two years she was stored in her case.
I'm playing all my other guitars constantly on stage an it's no problem for me if they get scratched or get a ding on top. (Except 1187)
1187-247 was a holy thing for me - and more a collectors guitar than a players guitar.
I like to have "patina" on my guitars :-) I use them but do not abuse them!
1680 is my favourite Adamas followed by my old 1687. 1688 is without doubt the best 12-String to me.
My absolute best wooden-box ist my Gibson J-50. Followed by a J-45.
So, theres a lot of stuff left ... an my pillow will stay dry at night ;-)

Wonder if you'd win if you challenged it |

Ireland (where SWMBO originates) is increasingly aligning with mainland Europe. They do speeds and distances in km now as well as using the Euro currency.
I always smile at (US-made) computer programs that ask me to choose between English and British English as a language option... |

Location: Germany, where delicious wine is growing (Rheinh) | Hallo Karl,
Frage: wo wohnst Du? Ich würde Dich gerne einmal kennenlernen.
Herzliche Grüße
Bernie |

*starting translation*
Hello Karl,
sorry, I have just found this thread again.
I didn't buy her. She was a bit too expensive and I am not the "Super-(Guitar)-Player", I wouldn't be able to give her all she deserves. That's why I am happy on one hand, that Meuti got the FD14 (thank you Bernie *Meuti). He probably can play her much better than me (thank you Bernie :D *blushing Meuti) and just a "nice to have" is another thing.
I have recently bought a couple of Oldtimers, that I renewed and I'm happy to hear them sound good when I play around with them.
(...)
*translation end*
I hope I got it quite right. |
