Great idea.
Except for all the metal zippers and snaps. Those have to go.

I agree with Wabbit/zippers, buckles, snaps, etc. would have to GO! There would have to be towels or something in between each one to protect the guitars.

The price is too high, also ... better make sure the closet rod is strong enough to accomodate the weight ... this is a really great idea, actually, except that the price is too high ... and one of those Hercules holders, or whatever they are called, the ones that grab and secure the guitar by the front of the headstock rather than just hang open on there, would be an even better design.

So Stephen, are you buying some? Maybe they'd give you a discount for multiple purchases?

;)

Great idea for all those folks out there whose main purpose for having guitars is to keep them as closet classics. Imagine when you go to sell your unplayed guitar: "A true Closet Classic!".

There would have to be towels or something in between each one to protect the guitars.
Aloha shirts. We have a strict dress code here.

If you are gonna put your guitar in a Closet, you may as well just put it in it's case.

But I will agree... Not a bad idea, but the price is too high.

(And did you see them throw that poor cat at that guitar?)

So are these Herc hangers - they angle so you get more guitars in a smaller space. Plus, you can get them from Al at a better price than just about anywhere.

Ok gator, 5 great guitars in that picture. The question for everybody, if you could have just 2 of those guitars, which 2 would it be?

For me, it would be the 87 C and the CL, even tho' I'm not a huge fan of sunbursts. But they are great guitars and I am a wood top kinda guy.....

Yeah, it looks even better now with a carved TRC courtesy of JB/KK and genuine MOP tuner buttons courtesy of Temp.

Also missing from that pic is the matching 1538 :p

I gotta take a newer picture of that wall. Not only are 2 guitars missing (Original 1687 and the 1538), but I put up several framed old Ovation magazine ads - one for the 87C (with Uncah Beal's sig over his boots), one introducing the 1537, and one for Adamas. Now I need to find me some neon. Hey Prof. Brad, lemme know if you come across any you already have or don't want!

I've created my own top-mount system to hang guitars off the ceiling at about a third of the cost of the closet hanger. It wouldn't have been necessary if I had more walls. I prefer any hanger that attaches to a mounting block via a 1/4" threaded stud and nut. This allows me to remove the block and then fabricate any form of mounting system to suit my purpose (ceiling, angles, long-arm, etc.). The Hercules are nice because of the pressure-activated gripping system, but I can usually find three or more of the Swing models for about the same cost as one Hercules. I don't need the grippers for my applications.

Even not finding them hasn't been a problem since I befriended the local custom neon sign maker. Am I totally ready for rehab, or what?

Search for "Ovation Neon" on eBay. Comes in Blue, Red or Green, maybe more. (I got a blue one..)

These are not neon, but rather, inexpensive, laser-etched plastic with a hard-to-find 9" flourescent bulb that illuminates laterally through the plastic/glass. They're made in China and the bulbs last a few months. I'm still looking for replacement bulbs for the few that I own.

Oops, yeah, you got me there. You're right, they ain't neon, but that's how they advertised them on the 'Bay.

I'll have to investigate the availability of the tubes over here. If I can find them, maybe I can ship some over to you Brad.

The first problem with this thing for me is that it assumes there is room to be had in the closet. No. Definitely not. Not now. Not ever. Never.
