And one amp was a CA10 with a variable speed Chorus...
And one amp was a CA15 with Reverb...
Which sounds better, is more useful, whatever?
I am not worried about wattage or speaker size cuz I ain't playing for the masses...
Whatchya think... All y'all on the east coast and Europe who are already awake.
[chop-chop... Let's be quick, I need an answer... Please] |

Location: Yalova/Turkey | My humble opinion: go and get yourself a Marshall AS 50 D which has chorus and reverb, two channels you can split them between (one for a mike if you like, one for the guitar) and be much happier than with one of the "cheapies"...
As someone wrote in here concerning O guitars: buying cheap turns out more costly in the long run... |

I have a Chorus Pedal and a Zoom 505II that I never use either one of...
So if I really need a chorus I can dig-around in the junk drawer.
They are unloading New CA15\'s for less than a hunnert bucks on evilBay...
If anybody has a burning desire.
And New CA10\'s for $60. |

It has almost all the toys you could ever want built in... Reverb, Chorus, Flange, Tape Echo, Sweep Echo, Overdrive... AND for a tiny little amp it REALLY has great sound! I am recommending them to all my students. just my 2 cents... :-)

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | I just got a really cool Roland micro cube portable amp in white tolex for less than a C note...COSM amp modeling, BOSS effects, battery or A/C power, built in tuner tone, recording/headphone output. Effects include Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, tremolo, delays, and reverbs...and it can run for 24hrs on batteries...aux in for a cd player or MP3...just a killer little amp... |

I seem to be a Boss fan so in order of acquisition and importance:
Tuner
Delay with Tempo switch
Blues Distortion
Compressor
Noise Reducer
Boost
Flanger |

Mike and David, I've got the MicroCube and the CubeStreet.
And they have all the knobbies I would ever need.
But in previous discussions about MC's people have said that I really need to get a Real Acoustic Amp.
I was doing a price-check to sell my Fender G-DEC (gone! that quick) when I stumbled on to the CA's at reasonable prices. Then the Gear-GAS hit! Anyway, I sold the G-DEC for more than I paid for the CA... one-in/on-out, so I still will have the same amount of stuff. Just different stuff. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | So I got my CA15... This thing is scary-loud! Nice!
Okay, I've had (and have) combo amps with a Clean or Acoustic setting. This is totally different.
I just had an epiphany! Y'all have been telling me for years that I need an acoustic amp.
Y'all were Right! (Don't let it go to your head)
Also, unlike my other amps, when playing through this thing the sound seems to come from everywhere!
As opposed to being really 'directional' like my other amps. The music fills the room.
I am standing and walking around and the sound is consistent.
My neighbors are gonna hate me.
[I have guitar stands, I only leaned the guitar here for this one photo]
Okay, now comments and questions... The cord on this thing is attached to the amp, unlike all my other amps that take one of those triangular computer-type cables... Hence the Orange work-site extension cord. I will arrange something better, eventually.
When I first turn it on the is a minor hum, that turns into a hiss when I get up to "10"...
Is this a defect?
You cannot hear it when I am playing, and you cannot hear it when nothing is plugged-in.
Or is it just my 20 foot cable with the 1/4" jacks?
But this thing is Nice. It gives a really True reproduction of the guitar's sound!
As well as every mistake I make! |

Arthur, my lil' Crate Model 5 has a 'warm up' pop and then all is well. I've read that is not uncommon. |

When I take the Trekker or CK047 out, they only have gig-bags. So I take the can.
(and that money was in there... Leave it there for 'seed money')
My MicroCube is in a backpack, and the CubeStreet is in that there tool-bag.
I haven't take my Crate Profiler out yet. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | My Crate (CA125D) has hiss all the time. I've read that it is in the tweeter and there's nothing I can do about it. Since I didn't pay much for it and rarely use it, it doesn't bother me.
You ought to be able to test another similar amp at a music store to see whether it has hiss. |

But I think that it might be the cable, also.
I stuffed a 99 cent cable in there and it really hummed.
BTW-- Be Careful With Your Guitars! IT IS WINTER AGAIN!
Besides that it is probably snowing in Mark's neck-o-the-woods...
This amp was Ice Cold when I opened the box.
And ski-lifts are open in Utah. |

Plus I got an Montage coming tomorrow to play with...
So I'm all set until next week! :p

They have about 4 humidifiers running all the time in the acoustic room. I couldn't hear the hiss in my Crate when I tried it. |

I love telling the Kids that I was traveling the country when their Mom was trying Not to get pregnant.
--------------
I tried to add this, but after I took 20 minutes to type it with one finger it told me my time had elapsed!
And Solid Top...
The 'Amp/Speaker' part of the G-DEC isn't that great. The speaker is kinda weak. You have to go into the menu and go through a bunch of ka-ka just to change some sound settings. And the only Backing Track I ever used was "Chicago Blues" to play riffs over, but that gets old. It did have a Lynyrd Skynyrd drum-beat/bass-line for "Gimme Three Steps" (without the turn-around), but otherwise there was not any Folk-Rock beat for doing any Neil Young, Tom Petty, or John Cougar Melonhead. I does have one for Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison (without the turn-around). So I sold it to a kid who is quite happy, although I lost $30... Oh Well.
Mark...
I found the 'hum'... It ain't really the amp. It was because I had an 'Open' cable plugged-in. It don't hum with no cable. If you plug an empty cable in there it Will Hum. But when you plug the other end into the guitar, No Hum. Aren't you glad I explained that? (Ho-Hum)
I am still kinda new at this. I am just now learning stuff that those Young'uns, and you Oldsters, leart when you first started playing at about 12!

Hello Old Man Arthur, I have the same amp and was getting a hum/hiss as well, then I check my wall plugs and had found out that I had an open ground, fixed it and no more hum on all my amps as well. Also a dimmer swicth can also induce a lot of hum/hiss. You can buy a circuit tester at any hardware store for under ten $. Hope this helps...Les |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Thank You, Les... I found that most of the problem was just my own stupidity about an open cable.
BUT! I have Tons of sources for possible interference in my Room.
I live in a Studio Apartment which is a fancy way of saying "One Room and a Bathroom".
I've got refrigerator, microwave, computer, TV, stereo, VCR, DVD, cable box, three clock radios, printer, scanner, WiMax modem, cordless phone, and three fans. [Luckily my electricity is include in my Rent]
Do you think any of these could be causing interference? :D :p |

Both of my Crate acoustic amps will hiss a little bit when the volume is way up, but like you, I can't hear it when I'm playing, and I hardly ever turn the volume that high anyway. And they both give me the sound I want. |
