Hello all,

It's nice to meet you all. I have had the privilege of owning, learning on, and now 10 years into playing the guitar: "rocking on", my 1973 Ovation Legend. My father bought the guitar from my Uncle 20 years ago as a gift for my mother. A sale my Uncle vocally regrets every time I pull it out. As soon as I could pick it up it became mine, as my father said to me: "If you can learn to play on this guitar, you'll be able to play any guitar."

Now that I am older and can respect what this guitar truly is, I have a few question I was hoping someone could answer for me.

1st) Is there anywhere I can find a factory style (or oem) saddle for my Legend?

2nd) I have a few concerns about my guitars condition.

The sound holes pick guard is cracked.

One or more of the frets has space between it and the neck, causing my high E string to frequently get suck underneath it when strumming (currently a very small peace of cello tape keeps the string out from under it... weird I know but it works).

And lastly, the lacquer on the body has a hairline crack in it that starts about an inch below the right side of the saddle, down the rest of the length of the guitar. I am fairly curtain that the wood is not cracked, or at least not all the way through to the inside.

I'm not really sure what I should do about these concerns; if anything at all. I would consider having it refinished if someone had a suggested place they may have experienced... or if you know if the factory would do it for me. This guitar means a lot to me and I would pay the price to have it up to par. None of these things affect the sound as far as I can tell.

Thanks for any input and I look forward to meeting you all.

-Steve

First of all, welcome.

Second: I bet the good folks here will refer you to Ovation Factory - AKA The Mothership - to fix your guitar.

Welcome Steve!!

Definitely send it to the mothership. You will be without that great guitar for a few weeks, but, when she comes back you will be amazed at it's condition and playability. Well worth the investment in a guitar Spa treatment.
