Location: Seymour, Tennessee | Hmm, mine DB was there for me before I was born.
I was born Sept 1, 1969, my Dad bought it a few months before that.
He didn't actually GIVE it to me until 1987 a few months before he was killed.
I bought my first one, the 88 with some of his life insurance money early in 1988.
So that's:
22 owning one,
21 years of owning the first one I bought,
the 12 CL came in 1990 so thats 19 for my first 12.
Can I claim credit for the years before Dad gave it to me?
HA HA HA HA
Congrats Mike! |

Location: Chicago | I'm with ya, brother: I bought my 1117 in the winter of 1974! So it looks like there might be a Thirty Fiver Club in the making here... Although my Legend has been to the Mothership twice (in 1981 and 2006) and now sports alien electronics (Fishman) it is still a giggin' and recording guitar for me. Number one! |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | 36 years and counting since I bought my first, from a Boise guitar shop while on vacation. I don't believe it was a Balladeer. Did they make acoustic-only Legends back then? It was then stolen from a motorhome at the beach 8 years later in 1981, so I replaced it with the Legend Ltd which I still own. Had that first guitar not been stolen, I likely would still own it as well. |

Location: Louisville, OH 44641 | I bought one of Mike's guitars recently and I can feel Mike's passion. This deep body 12 string was easy to fall in love with. But I'm about 30 years behind Mike so it may be difficult to catch up in my life time. |

Location: Veedersburg, Indiana | I saw my first O in 74 & bought by first roundback (an Applause) in 82. My first O (a Balladeer) didn't come along until 86. Ended up with 5 O's (sold all off) and starting buying them again this year. There is definitely something about them! |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | Well, my first Ovation was a Tornado that my Dad got for me when they first came out. That was 1969. I sold the Danelectro and cheapy amp that he had bought me previously for 100 bucks and went out and bought a Fender Vibrochamp. I still had the old Silvertone acoustic though. That was my only acoustic for the first five years that I played. Imagine going from that to the super low action and fantastic sound of an O! |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Alison, I did the same thing . . . went from a mid-50's Sears Silvertone (Harmony?) pawn shop special received as a Christmas present in 1959 to a brand new deep bowl in 1973. What a difference. I recall reattaching the Silvertone's neck to the body using a 2" angle bracket. I think Silvertone's Mothership had departed the galaxy by then. |
