Try the TKL ultralight case that,s been on ebay for a while. It's made for Ovations and your 12 will fit just fine.

I had something similar when I had the mandolin. They are pretty lightweight and sturdy.

I have been eyeballing one of those for my LX since I got her. Starshine has one for Aurora and I LOVE all the pockets for cables and setlists, etc. I am hoping that Santa will bring me the money for one at Christmas... :D

As for the protection, the one Starshine has seems very adequate to me, but then I don't travel much so I am the only one handling my guitars and I don't have to worry about baggage handlers throwing her around, etc. But for going to and from the studio, to jams and gigs, etc. it is a pretty rugged case. Once I get one, my hardshell will be collecting dust up in the loft unless I fly somewhere with my guitar. That is not likely to happen.

I saw one in a store and it seemed pretty rugged. It felt like it had some sort of relatively stiff shell under the "canvas." That might just be the dense "foam core."

Are they actually made by Ovation? Does Al carry them? If so, he can verify that a Legend 12 fits and sell you one, too…

I doubt that they are made by Ovation... Ovation doesn't make the other "Ovation" cases.
But Al can answer all your questions.
