That crack on the back of the headstock looks kinda ugly, though... |

Somebody just piss-on-the-bushes for five-hunnerd clams, and spare us all the suspense, OK?! |

The top seems not to be a 3 piece top, is it possible (Beal, Bob??)??

It is also my opinion and you expressed it a lot better than I could have done.
I'm very very very interested with this old lady and maybe I'll find a way to bring it in France.
I've got this small light in the eyes that makes me feel that I'm near to have a GAS attack... :D

| Jérôme, if Glenn doesn't chime in I'd be more than happy to pick up, pack and ship the guitar to CT (or directly to you) should you happen to buy it. |

J :) Don't fight GAS, my friend. Fighting it has been known to cause cancer in lab rats. Better to give in...... |

I'm ready to "break my piggy bank" (English translation of a French expression...) to get it!!!
This is the first I've ever seen with a so low serial number and this is the holly grail to my eyes.
Paul, I am ready to give up the fight against GAS... :D

| Hi guys, I'd be happy to check it out, but my car is currently out of commission and has been since coming home from surgery and Al's house for a nice meal..
but we should be back on the road again tomorrow..if my engineering and repair skills prevail(read #10 machine screw and some JB weld and duct tape if necessary) if I can't check it out, Slydog can, or he and I can both go over and give it a review... I'll contact the seller now.
looks like a clamp and glue will fix the headstock pretty cleanly.
and ser #22 with a custom rosette.... that would be a nice one to have.
we can get this done... I'll let you know when I hear back from the seller.
Regards,
Glenn |

Location: Tuscany, Italy | I'm with Paul, I guess in the early model the "standard" we all know was not yet "standardized". It's a nice-low number model to have in the stable. I recognize the same bridge pattern (stained with hidden string knobs) that was also present in my BD (sn.345), that is also 2pcs bookmatched top. I'm glad if this will go to Jerome ;) . I'll visit Paris somehow and maybe can have a chance to look at the guitar vis-à-vis :D |

| Hi all, just got off the phone with Walt, the son of the owner of the guitar, and also it's builder his mother who's still around picking and kicking and filled in some blanks on this one.
it is a 2 piece bookmatched top, unsure of bracing but I will be inspecting it on this Sunday.
She installed the Grover's later in it's life, and removed the Klusons, basically the story I'm getting is it was her own built-to-order guitar that she purchased from the factory as an employee, which is why it has the wheat rosette and bookmatched 2 piece instead of a 3 planker top.
the headstock crack originates from the mounting screw hole where she changed over to the Grovers, and either no pilot holes were drilled or not drilled deeply enough.
anyway, he's bringing it over to our apartment on Sunday afternoon, and I will do a full inspection/assessment and take lots more photos.
Jerome' or any other local, domestic, or International member that is lucky enough to win this one.. I will be more than happy to have it packed and shipped for you and will be VERY well packed and insured for whatever you're willing to pay.
Let the games begin.... I'm interested in seeing what this one brings.... and watching the last minute of bidding.
Good Luck!! Hope you get it Jerome!!

| Jerome' PM sent...
for those at the mothership or who used to be there back in '66,
the lady's last name is Carney, and she worked both at Bloomfield and Hartford... don't know if she was at Moosup.... she remembers Mr. Kaman Sr... and Beal...
could this be one of the very first custom-built O's?
Regards,
Glenn |

Balladeer soon changed to a white on black chainlink for a very short period of time and then finally to the more common black on white. Josh White changed to the floral inlaid pretty early on and the classical was the last to give up the zig-zag for the inlaid floral. |

I don't know what's your opinion but I think that a small trip to New Hartford would be preferable before she takes the plane to France isn't it??
It hard for me to sleep since I saw this guitar and I cross my fingers to be winner the end. :D
As I'm still building my new music room this week end, I'll make a small place for her in case...

However, realize that this is an eBay auction and the seller deserves the highest bid possible (no, I am not bidding).
There are those on the OFC that may also be seeking this guitar. And, they have the right to do so. |

I'm ready to play the game of the auction and like we says in France: "que le meilleur gagne"!! ;)

Noper... Even if I had, there's no way I'd admit it here, considering the avid interest!
I would have loved to have won her via the auction! In fact, I think I was the second bidder. |

The unofficial, self-appointed head cheerleader for the "OFC Family" bidding against the one person besides the Kaman family who has done more to promote Ovation, who has devoted countless hours to amassing the largest collection of Ovation history and information and made it freely available to the world, going so far as to create a multimedia package which he then gave away to all here who asked for it, and who expressed a passionate desire for this particular guitar; and said cheerleader is unapologetic about trying to screw him over. I couldn't imagine better. |

Maybe Tim can get you time on a USCG Frigate swabbing the decks and cleaning the heads....
Course, I agree with this part: "...the one person besides the Kaman family who has done more to promote Ovation, who has devoted countless hours to amassing the largest collection of Ovation history and information and made it freely available to the world, going so far as to create a multimedia package which he then gave away to all here who asked for it," |

This is the same "cheerleader" whose kindness and generousity are overwhelming! I know this "cheerleader" so well, I'd be willing to bet that he was trying to buy this guitar as a GIFT for someone "who has devoted countless hours to amassing the largest collection of Ovation history..." |

I'm not "better" than anyone else here and it's just for my pleasure that I'm working on the website.
In fact, I'm the greatest egoist on earth... :D
You all made me the greatest gift with the Adamas proto #11 project and that's more than enough for me, it's one of the nicest gift I've never expected.
I'm a member like everyone here, I'm coming to find informations about O's and to have nice contacts because this is the best place for that and that's all.
Thank you for accepting me in the "Family", it's already so great for me.
Merci

TUS,
Fortunate for you that the bidding data is gone. That way no one can check the eBay and OFC 'time lines' to debunk your uncalled for accusation.
Unlike you, I have nothing to apologize for regarding this topic...
