I ask because while shopping for 12 string sets I see that D'Addario makes an EXP version in both.
Do you have a preferred 12 string set that is different from your 6 string set?

Location: Rocky River, Ohio | I'm not sure of the technical differences, but to me, phosphor sound initially brighter. 80/20, at least from John Pearse, to me last longer, but sound warmer, less shrill.
Some of my guitars sound too bright with phosphor stings. As far as 12 strings, i usually use coated strings just to prolong having to change them, and they seem to stay fresh longer, since my 12's aren't played as often. |

Location: South of most, North of few | Herb, do yourself a favor and put a set of Elixir nano 10's. they sound great and last so long you'll feel guilty for not changing them. |

I like it when the treble strings are also " Bronzed " , using 10 - 47 `s on the 1618 , I get `em from CFMartin , Tone is there from the beginning , evolves very little and Long lasting ( several months ) . |

Location: Chicago | Lately I've been getting great results with the Elixir 80/20 Nanos (I replace the 12 with a 13) plus--and this is an important PLUS for me--the new .90 Dunlop ULTEX SHARP picks. |

Location: Chicago | Sort of a hybrid actually, Vic: I hold the pick (thumb, index) but pick and "rasgueado" with the other three. Damn hard to keep nails "healthy" with steel tho! |

Thanks fer the " heads-up " ,.. as I`ve gone more into the " hands-fingers -only " , telling myself , " they`ll ( them nails ) grow/settle into this , experiencing ..ehr .. slight discomfort .., Yer reply kindà comforts me .. :)

I haven't noticed any longevity differences
Only buy the exps if you're getting a good deal on them, say if you can get them for less than 2.5 times the price of regular strings, of course if you want to experiment that's something else.
I wish they made a 12 string set based on the XLS590 jazz light. |
