I,m getting a cracking sound from my axe , I,m sure it,s the jack socket , needing resoldered or something,I,ve tried other leads and getting same results so I,m sure it,s the socket . Is it a major job for an expert or could I tackle it myself. the guitar is a C/Balladeer ...thanks.

IF you are comfortable with a solderin iron, it can be done your self. FIrst checnk and make sure the jack is tight, and no wires are loose. I'd start by resoldering all the connections on the jack before replacing it. It may justbe a cold solder joint. It that isn;t it, the you'll have to replacethe jack. Make sure you do 1 wire at a time. JUST to make sure you get them all int eh right place on teh new jack..

Good luck!

Is it a simple job to extract the socket, is it only held with the outer nut to the body, I don,t want to make a pigs ear of things. hb.
