I'd move to Canada, or Northern Idaho, which is almost Canada, but there are too many Californians in North Idaho. |

Actually, if I could truly only keep one, it WOULD be either the 1587 or the Morgan Monroe. They don't make either one anymore, and they both have incredible sound. The 1587 plugs in so I would probably keep that one. But then again, that Morgan Monroe is the best sounding acoustic I have ever heard. They are both easy on the fingers. Are you sure I can't keep two? (or ten)? It would really break my heart to give up the LX. And the Legend has been my best friend for most of my adult life. I want them all!!! |

But if I had 5 Adamis's, and 8 Ovations I think I would be hard pressed to find THAT much difference between them. It would come down to playability and sound unplugged for me. In that situation, I would want a roundhole, deep bowl, with a 1 3/4" nut that would sound great by itself. |

Shit, don't tell Ms Spoo Faced Pelosi, she'll make it happen. That way all those who have too many guitars can have them redistributed to those that don't want to play or only have a Taylor. |

The new law theme probably wasn't the best way to get the question answered without tripping some switches that didn't need tripping.
I don't understand what you mean when you say you probably wouldn't find THAT much difference between them. Some people on this forum hear a difference between the OFC and the #47RI, although I barely detect one. I can hear a difference between the Patriot and the 04 CL Commmemorative, however, and they're both CL derivatives. I also hear a major difference between the centerholes and the Elites, obviously between the cedar topped 1713 and the spruce topped Folklore. I have 4 12 fret Ovations (counting the Ute) and each is totally different from the other.
Unless you really only can have one guitar for economic reasons (which I find difficult to accept, since I had 5 different Ovations that cost less than one Taylor), why torture yourself trying to decide which is the "one true guitar". Contrary to Indiana Jones, all the guys who spent their lives searching for the holy grail died without it. |

The only thing keeping you somewhat grounded is the ONE guitar standing in the corner nestled amoungst the pipe bombs, anarchists bibles, and pictures of targeted potential victims. Which guitar calls you back to reality? |

Of the now seven 1778T's I've owned, not two of them sounded the same. Similar, but not the same. Different enough that I keep rotating T's (got 2 inbound, 1 outbound) just to hear the different sounds. I keep the ones that bond with my finicky ears. But there are only 2 that are unlikely to ever be outbound:
My 1778T Sweet T Prototype, and my original Lusty Red 1778T. Please don't "make" choose between them :-) |

Of the top five:
1. S&W MP .45cal - not a guitar but it 'sings'
2. # 50 original Adamas slothead
3. EF75 or 45th Anniv Takamine
4. 30th Anniv Cl
5. one of the early 1687 Adamas I
"Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit Democratic voters and it will encourage the extremists." |

Any more discussion of this and I'll get in trouble.
I've been called lots worse than a teabag. You sure it wasn't fleabag? I don't wear tassled loafers, either. |

I'd have the 08C and the wife would have the 09C, my son would have the Adamas II, each of my daughters would have the following; 07C, Custom Legend and the Cedar-topped Elite ... and there's the grand kids and the dog who would each be able to choose one at my suggestion. |

I could answer the question if it was which five guitars would you keep -- for now.
Oh, and none of them happen to be Ovations at the moment.

Anyway, for the last 6 months or so I've been really into the Guild D40 Bluegrass Jubilee so if you pinned me to the wall and tickled my nipples with burning matches I wouldhave to choose that one. |

I was just curious because I could live with one guitar for the rest of my life and be perfectly content. I'd prefer my Everett but could swing it with my old Takamine or my Ovation...but not my G&L tele. I was just wondering about you dudes with 987 guitars how you would narrow it down to the ONE. |

When I first joined, the 1537 was the rage, so I'm sure I would have said "1537" at some point. I really liked the sound of the Folklore and still do, so I probably identified that. Then the 87C, then the 04, and so on. Tastes change, so the answers will probably change each time the question gets asked. |

Of the ones I own it would be the '07C. The Adamas 2080 is a superior guitar in a number of ways, but the wood top of the '07C is too sexy to give up for the hard sterile carbon top of the Adamas. |

I'd have to go with the VXT custom, because it can do double duty with its wide-ranging electronics, but enough with these make-believe, what-if games. I'm sure glad I don't have a make this kind of decision, and my heart goes out to those of you who do. |

Interesting consideration; change the question to, "If you had to sell everything to keep body, soul and family together, what is the 1 guitar you would keep to help you through it?"
No longer is it a question of "best" but more a question of balancing potential income against emotional attachment.
I would still stick with a certain old National that wouldn't mean much to others, but has always been a source of comfort for me. All others I would miss, but I COULD do without them if push came to shove. |

No longer is it a question of "best" but more a question of balancing potential income against emotional attachment. So? You might wanna Sell the Best Guitars due to the Most Financial Return.
And you wanna keep a cheap one that sounds best plugged-in, for busking and gigs (maybe). |
