Location: Morristown, NJ | yes, it does look exactly like that except it's all black (no grey at all)... sounds like a Balladeer right? I'm trying to figure out if it's made in the usa or not...? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Hey Now! My First Ovation was a 4861 Korean Balladeer.
It sez 'Balladeer' on the label, right? Not Celebrity.
I has a Solid Top. Mine had an OP-24+ in it.
And it sounded good for an SSB. And the OP-24+ sounded Great plugged-in!
I got persuaded that I needed a Real USO(vation) and sold it. And now I miss it dearly!
All I've got is a photograph... :(
The serial number on mine was 9 Million and something. (seven digits) |

Location: SoCal | Way back a few years ago (5/03), I got one for my wife for $247.50 (1989, 398626).
Later traded it with another guitar for a 1537 (the one with the screw through the fretboard).
It came down from Sacramento where a regional solo act had used it.
It is a very good guitar, during the period that the materials were sent to Korea for assembly. Nothing wrong with it either as an acoustic or a/e. Some say it is as good as a US Balladeer at 1/2 the price. If I remember right, it had a mid-bowl.
Only reason that we still don't have it is my wife wanted the 'palm tree' parlor and uke.
Assuming certain things like the condition, you should buy it over a Celeb. As to price, lower than for a US Balladeer. |

And Tony, it is an SSB. A 4861 is a Korean 1861, back when the numbers made sense.... |

Location: SoCal | c'mon, assuming it is in good condition, it is a GREAT deal...get your self a less than $20 tuner.
Arthur (sorry, OMA means to me oh my ass which was a special club when we had ejection seat training-rocket strapped to our posterior)...
Thanks, thought it was, just couldn't remember. It had surprising acoustic sound I didn't find in a lot more expensive shallow bowls. It is a US Balladeer (parts and material) that is cheaper because some don't accept that the Koreans can do excellent work. I believe this was a special project for about six months. |

I would buy it in a Heartbeat! Even though I ain't a lover of Shiny Black Tops. |

Location: Morristown, NJ | ok - its missing a volume button - is that a big deal? the guy lives an 1 and 1/2 away and sold his amp so i will probably buy it sight unseen and unplayed... taking a chance but if it sounds even a little tiny bit better than my celebrity than it will be worth it... |
