If there is anyone near there, they need to make the trip. I envy them for at least one reason. They're near Cannon Beach which has the day-um'd BEST IN THE WHOLE WORLD 'home-made' clam chowder at a small restaurant on the beach! Hopefully the eatery is still there... that was only 25 years ago...
Good luck in your quest! |

I LOVE seafood and have savored much around the world. But I'm serious 'bout the Cannon Beach chowder! Your taste buds will be so happy that your tongue will slap your face silly.
Now if ya want to talk 'bout Gulf Coast cuisine, check out the NOLA food sites. Or better yet, head on down to my place for some Keys 'bug' tails and grilled snapper and...
OK, back to helpin' out Michelle...
<edited to add> Mark, we didn't stop in Coos Bay for lunch. But that area is just awesome! The fog was mercurial and fascinating. As to salt water taffy, locally, we divers have a different concept of such... |

There's a place called Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay that has the most amazing rocky shoreline.. one of my favorite places in all the world. Unfortunately, I'm not heading that way any time soon.
Mark's daughter might be your best bet.

There's no CLAMS in the Gulf. None worth eating, at least. |

There are the coast range mountains and no direct route from there to Anywhere!
But I do wish you success! |

Anita I'm fine, but I got GAS really bad. It's all Karen's fault. I went to her house and she graciously let me play her Tornado and I've been wanting a Storm Series guitar ever since!

store Tony, that is the exact store that has the guitar I'm looking at.
I might as well spill the beans -- I'm looking at a 1972 Thunderhead for $600.00 with 3 days left on bidding and no bidders.
I don't really care if someone here bids on it and wins. My motto is "If I am not the successful bidder on Ebay, please let it be an OFCer that ends up with a great guitar"!

I would recommend calling them...they are a pretty complete music store, to include a repair facility, school rental, etc. Should get good disclosure as to electronics, neck, frets, etc. They have more than their listing reputation at risk.
I have called stores listing guitars and haven't had a problem.
Just don't say "go Ducks" :D or "go Beavers" . The "Civil War" is in a couple of weeks between Univ of Oregon and Oregon State. You never know what side someone is on.
Good luck, hope you get it. |

In my case it's AJ's fault for bidding on a guitar he wasn't going to buy. I'm taking the Tornado shopping for a case tonight. Good luck with the Thunderhead. |

I've been in Orcoast, Tony. Nice place, seemed like nice people. I don't get down to the south coast much anymore. Last time I was in Coos Bay was a couple years ago, visiting the K&K folks to pickup a pickup.
Iffy, it's a heck of a long drive for a bowl of soup. |

Good luck in your quest! Are you referring to Moe's Iffy? If that isn't it, let me know the name of the place and Candice & I will check it out, Cannon Beach is only 15 miles north of us!
Sorry to hijack your thread Michelle, if we lived closer to Coos Bay, we would be happy to check out the Ovation you're interested in. Goodluck |

Nice of you to help Michelle out!
All I remember about the restaurant was that it was fairly cozy (re small) and right up on the beach dunes. Sorry... |

Probably Moe's, they sit right next to the beach and they've been there for as long as I can remember (they have 3 or 4 restaurants up and down the Oregon coast and are famous for their chowder). Actually though, we have a place a couple of miles from here in Wheeler that has even better chowder, the best I've ever had (The Sea Shack Seafood and Chop House) I like to plug good places whenever I can, Lord knows there's enough bad places out there who get erroneous good plugs! |

Now if I could only get the Food Network to sponsor me for a PNW 'best chowder quest'...

| Thanks everyone for the help. Iffy, Old Man Arthur and DVD -- love the pics!
I'm wondering why no one has bid on this guitar -- do you think the price is too high? $600.00 for a vintage guitar doesn't sound too bad, but I don't know about such things.

| Hmmm...now this is interesting. I found another Thunderhead listed on ebay. This one is for $800 and doesn't have the original tuners and is being sold by a pawn shop:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Ovation-Thunderhead-1231-4-Electric-Guitar-USA-...
Makes the $600 one look like a steal.

Oh well, I lost that one.

Michelle Contact the seller and see if they will sell it to you. It is a music store. |
