Location: Ottawa, Canada | Someone mentioned in my pics that the ADll had the K Bar and was surprised because he thought they all had the Advanced neck system? Just curious, can someone explain the difference between the two? |

With the purchase of newly-developed CNC equipment a few years ago, it became possible for Ovation to make a neck system that was technically advanced compared to the K-Bar neck system. The K-bar neck was heavy and, as the bowls got lighter with advanced technology, the guitars were "neck-heavy". The new neck is a lot lighter. The V shape of the K-Bar neck was unavoidable because the K-bar was very close to being exposed if they thinned-out the profile any more. Now a thinner profile is possible, but I'll bet Al likes the V-profile (as do some others here). I wonder if they ever program the CNC to make a new neck with the old V shape if someone wanted it?
Anyway...there's more to it than that, but there's some info to get you started.
