so, someone offered to sell me their Ovation solidbody, which was exciting becuase my first gutiar(which i still have) was an Ovation acoustic electric. This solida body, though, apprears to be a "Celebrity", not an Ovation, and i can't find any information about it online anywhere...any assistance would be greatly appreciated...are celebrities to ovations what squires are to fenders?

Welcome. Yeah, That Celebrity/Squire comparison is about right.

There were some interesting Celebrity solid bodies out there.
I've seen a few with shark teeth inlay and H/S/H pickups, Floyd whammy and all that.

Of course I cannot find a image of one when I want one...

Scuze Me! Here is one, courtesy of 'Frenzy81'

Whoa, that one has a coil tap switch (I'm guessing)
Here are more of Frenzy81's pics over on the Ning site.

But I have seen some pretty neat looking Celebrity solid bodies. Crackle paint and the like.
But I have never played one.
So that info will have to come from someone else.

flabs,

First of all, welcome to the Ovation Madness!

Arthur is pretty much spot on. But... there is a 'following' for the ol' Ovation 'trics.

If ya can try it out and get it for a 'reasonable' price, ENJOY. Hey, we're talkin' about a 'baby boomer', 'not worth a shiite Strat wannabe', etc.

I can't give ya $$$ value (price cops have been frowned upon here recently)... Play it, and if ya like it and it's within your budget, WEAR IT OUT!

Aw screw that iffy... If I knew the going price for one I'd let you know.
I just couldn't find one on the 'completed' evilBay listings.
But they are priced about like a Squire too, or a mexi-strat, or a Philippine strat.
But these definitely go down to DESIRE!
How bad does someone want one, just cuz they had one back in 1981. (or whenever)
I've seen them go for around $175 for the Black Crackle HSH that I saw awhile ago.

" thanks all. sorry about the multiple posts, that was accidental...thought my computer was locked up ..."
Naw... The OFC website has been really busy, or really slow, or both.

yeah, i hear ya...understand in this market i am a BUYER, but there are people who are SELLERS who get really upset by people helping with pricing...i do appreciate you attitude though...i tend to agree that good karma is rewarded...

yeah, i checked evilbay...i research all my purchases ALOT...couldn't even find a reference to a Celebrity electric, thats why i came here...

i was hoping the guitar i was being offered was a viper or a breadwinner, one of the ones i've always wanted! not that there is anything wrong with the celebrtity...it might play great, i might go check it out!

Dont worry flabs. As a newbie myself this is a great place to be but dont worry they will give you some ribbing occasionally or just ignore you altogether.
