Hi all,

I'll soon be a proud owner of a 1615 PM, my first ovation in many years. I'll post pictures and details when I get delivery of it. But in advance of it arriving I have a question - as the guitar is a 12 string and is a good 30 years old - what guage strings do you guys recommend? I usually have light gauge Martins on my 6 stringed gits, but I want to keep the PM in the beautiful shape she is in and so want to make sure the correct gauge goes on her. Are we talking extra light? How do other PM owners think that affects the sound quality? What guage do other PM owners string their guitars with and how has it affected the stability of the guitar long term?

Many thanks for all your help. I'm sure I may be asking something that has been trashed out already so apologies if that is true - the dumb newbie questions will stop soon  . Can't wait for the PM :D

10s should be fine (lights). 9s are just too flimsy for me.

That was my concern, with regard to the extra lights, concerned about the loss of sound quality. As I said I use lights on my Martin and Takamine and they are just fine.
