Location: Wiesbaden | Walter Carney/his mother.. (curiocanteen on E-bay) will be re-listing the guitar tomorrow at 8:15 PST. as was stated in the previous threads, it would be placed back up for auction in January.
Mr. Carney will also be placing a very large collection of Ovation/Kaman aeronautics/Adamas/Applause, etc... literature and ephemera up on the bay in a separate auction which is scheduled to begin prior to the guitar auction.
He has already sent copies and scans of all of the documents and brochures to Jerome.
Good luck to all, and hope one of you fine OFC members is the lucky winner of the auction! |

The documents are the rare 4 info sheets from 1966/67 with some bonus... ;) (THESE DOCS!!)
Very interesting documents, one is personally signed by Josh White and the other signed by some employees from this era.

Interesting word, isn't it? |

These could be some of the folks that built my 1111. How cool is that! |

Location: Paris/France | Hi,
As promised in November in the first topic about this unique guitar, I was at 4.45am in front of my computer trying to win this Old Lady.
I'm very very happy to announce that I won and that this one will stay in the Family.
She will be tomorrow on the way to New Hartford for some works as changing the tuners for original Kluson, fixing the broken headstock and maybe a neck reset if needed.
I'd sincerely like to thank John.B at the Factory for his prompt and kind reply on Monday morning saying that he will be glad to welcome this guitar for doing the works.
I know one or two good Luthiers for guitars in Paris but I'm sure that none are better than the Ovation guys!!
Thanks also to Walt the seller whom was kind enough to let me bid and to Glenn for the nice pics and the review done in November.
Another big thank you to the OFC member that I beat on this auction whom was here as a security net just in case if I couldn't be in time for the auction.
Finally, thank you Tony!! You and I know why ... ;)
My words sounds a bit like an acceptance speech for an official ceremony but I'm sincere.
To own such a guitar is like an award to my eyes.
I'm the happiest guy on earth tonight and be sure that I'll give you news from this guitar in the future!!

There is no better home for this guitar than in your collection. As you said I was only there as a safety net in case something fell through. Yesterday wasn't such a bad day for me either.
You are encouraging me that I MUST come to visit you soon and surround myself with all your wonderful and historical guitars (and say hello to my old blue friend).
Congratulations again,
Dave |

The '66 ephemera showed up in the mail today and all of the pages are pristine, including the brochure with Josh White's signature. I don't think these pages have seen the light of day since they were signed 44 years ago.
Yesterday I received the material I purchased from Sam's collection. I'm amazed at all that Sam has accumulated and can't help but wonder how and where he obtained it all. What are your secrets Sam? It will take me hours to sort through all of this and then comes the task of organizing everything for display. Of course, out here in the middle of the Texas Plains, I'm not sure who I'll be showing it to. :)

Location: Route 66, just east of the Cadillac Ranch | Last Saturday I received a letter from Mrs. Viola Carney, who was the owner of the Balladeer and ephemera mentioned in this thread. Mrs. Carney was an Ovation factory worker in 1966. In her letter she talks about buying coffee for Josh White and some of her other experiences at the factory, which at the time was in the old Fuller Brush building.
I don’t know about you guys (and gals), but I think this letter is pretty neat and I just had to share it with you. Think about it, this very dear lady may have sanded the top of your shiny bowl Balladeer or glued the binding on your Josh White model. How cool is that?
Thank you Viola, and God bless you too.

Am I the only one that finds it encouraging that you can enjoy the chemicals that you work with and still live to be 88 years old despite it?

I'm very happy that the case is well arrived.
You now owns one of the oldest Ovation case known and it fits perfectly to your guitar!!! ;)
At this time, the Balladeer #22 should be on the way to France after a short stop at the Factory for some very small works.
It's a long trip and I cross my fingers to get it safe.
I hope to get it before two weeks and if she's there before 20 March, one of the very first to play it will be a well known "ugly English". :D :D :D
John told me that it's a great sounding guitar and you can imagine how I'm impatient to get it.
To complete the story, here are 2 docs that Walt was kind enough to send me after the sale.
I really love these docs because they are from the very very early days and this guitar was one of the first to leave the Bloomfield's Factory.
It was 44 years ago and I was not born yet... ;)
