Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Anybody have any additional information on the new line of Trace Elliot Acoustic amps launched last month? Their discontinued models introduced in 1989 have a good reputation and continue to fetch good prices on the resale market. I have to believe these new models are going to be expensive! Just wondering if they're still within the Fender/Kaman corporate umbrella?

I suppose in a club or other small venue it wouldn't matter but the couple I tried (or owned) all had a hum that made them unsuitable for recording.
The amps sounded great and I have heard some without the buzz so I know they are out there. |

Location: Tuscany, Italy | I own a Trace Acoustic amp. model TA40CR.
It is hosted in a 1995 Ovation catalog (nearby CWK2), or it looks similar to mine.
Got it in a lost guitar shop of a lost village near Florence 3 year ago. It has an amazing sound when an O is plugged in.

Location: Rocky River, Ohio | Agreed on the hum, but there is a guy named Shane who runs British Audio Service in a suburb of Chicago.
Those guys do fantastic work. Can't say enough about their level of service.
My TA100R Concert is absolutely dead quiet.
They're at www.britishaudioservice.com
Shane services all my Gibson tube amps too. |

Al, How could "they have been available for the past 3 years" if the website says the new line of Trace Elliot Acoustic amps launched last month? |

they have been back in production for about 3 years now.
why is it that so many people who utilize this website believe EVERYTHING they read on the internet??????????????????
kaman owned them.
they stopped production
gibson bought them
stole their designs and called it the goldtone amp
(really it is a vellocette) and shut them down
peavey bought them and started them back in production.
I have no clue where this hum thing is coming from all the trace amps I owned were quiet. want something with hum? buy an swr |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | My TA100R is very quiet as well. I was using it for travel and had a custom ATA case made for it by Jan-Al, which it now mostly sits in because I'm totally hooked on the Genz Acoustic Pro. I'm just curious how these new models stack up against the competition. It is my impression that Trace Elliot has always had a good reputation, although historically they're a bit pricey new. |

| The hum thing sounds like the proverbially 60cycle hum that indicates an open nuetral/grounding problem in the circuit somewhere..that can happen with any amp... |

| Since the Noise issue is mentioned is there something that works well to reduce this fuzzy electronic noise? My Peavey Ecoustic really cranks out some solid sound for me but in quiet situations it is annoying.

The question is regarding what appear to be Trace Acoustic Amps with newly designed electronics and features, not the old designs.
I do not think SWR amps hum. Hum usually indicates a problem requiring a fix. Some brands hiss. |

Sold it off and got the Fishman Acoustic Performer Pro that kicks ass. |

| I would like one of Al's Benz's but I have to much invested in this Peavey. It is a great sounding amp and it really cranks I can turn it up to the "hurt people in a small bar" kind of volume if needed and no feedback problems. It is not silent when turned on..........not a loud hiss and no humm but is this something that can be grounded out? or is it the ghost in the machine that is inherant in these Peavey's? I figure this bunch would know of any line plug device that might correct this.
I don't think Al will let me trade toward the Genz Benz? But I have not officially asked yet. |
