For me "best" is defined by sound AND build quality AND craftsmanship AND design AND playability AND durability AND warranty AND price and maybe a few other points.
While other brands may excel in one area or another, or even in several area's, Ovation and especially Adamas tend to rate reasonably high in ALL aspects, at the SAME TIME, on the SAME MODEL.
To me, that is what defines "best." I don't say that this is the way it is because I like Ovation guitars. I like Ovation guitars because this IS the way it is. |

Why?
Not to be rude... But other than on the corporate level, Takamines and Ovations are not even similar.
First, Takamines are wood boxes... Need I go on? |

It's great to see Ovation #1. This shoots the "no respect" notion to hell and will probably be a great shot in the arm for their sales. I hope the dealers stocked up for the onslaught. Nice going Ovation !!! |

Some of which were/are very nice.
Even though I am far from even being a mediocre guitar player, I know what I like.
I judge all other guitars by comparing them to my Ovations! :D :p |

It's why I only have Adamas for my roundbacks.
All the rest are all wood.
YMMV

I recently bought a higher end Washburn classical that didnt come close to my cheap Yamaha. likewise, I have yet to play a new (under 500)fender, gibson, tak, or washburn jumbo or dreadnaught which plays as well as my 70s Fanin (obscure and defunct).
I think "most machine for the money" is a big factor for many players.
My "bang for the buck" list goes, Ovation, breedlove, Seagull. |
