I'd heard of them, but never seen one...never even seen one for sale! Playing a 1537 only made me wonder even more. Playing a 1758 added to the consternation. Why would the people who own one of these VERY rare birds rather eat their own thumbs than choke down the idea of selling it?

All I can say is, now I know. Some time this year, it will go to the factory for it 30-year check up. If it looks this good now, imagine what it will look like then.

And don't ask me about the sound. We don't have time for me to write a description (novel) that would do it justice. I have to move a couple of my best instruments because of this, but strumming on this one eases the loss quite a bit.

How often do you see the S/N on 2 different labels?

Very nice for a 12'er tho.

I just realized I'm truly getting old. I get a bigger kick out of posts like this (at least the ones with pics) than I do thumbing through my daughters' latest Victoria's Secret catalog.

Nice score, Patch.

The white binding with the red line in it jumped out at me right away also. I thought it was a 1758 when I saw it, but the two knobs and the serial number go with the 1538. ???

Cool guitar...that binding is a mystery...definitely circa Elite 1758 binding...a different looking serial number sticker as well...or not?

What the hay, enjoy it!
