Ok, I couldn't resist using the Newbie/Rookie subject line and I did wait until April 2nd to post it.

What I have is a very "PF" like prototype Viper-like Ash and Maple Guitar that has changed hands from Mr. Keller to Miles to me.

Pre PF Proto, Proto? Album

Can anyone fill in some of the history or decrypt the markings?

Was this made like the PF's or prior to?

Well, obviously something special here but my question is if it was one of the 24 PF protos... a Pre PF Proto... or a Post PF Proto, Proto?

Or Router Practice in the late 70's?

I have heard that one as told by Beal but I could argue from a historical perspective that it was a Production Finale.

If the 80's didn't kill ya they at least made you walk funny.

I do know Mr. K, a Gigging Musician, was usually at the forefront of the R&D as noted by his Single inlaid Epi Pre LX acoustic, Adamas Bass and likely a fair collection of others.

Unfortunately his addiction to Ukuleles has all but taken over his life and his storage capacity.

:D

Forensically, the body grain and patina match the PF Bass and the PF Viper that have passed through the Butcher shop but it is not marked as the PF's were.

I suggest that it was a pre PF prototype to make the statement that the smoothed heel can be done easily enough and that retooling would not be necessary.
The epoxy covered pups were a way to show something different without having something different.

Now, what does CS 10-24 represent?

OK!

With the original Bridge and Pickgaurd set aside and no grinding or cutting performed I'd like to introduce my little friend...

I put the Shadow Piezo system into the Schaller bridge and re-purposed it. It is now a PF VXT of sorts.

You can hang em on the wall in a museum or you can keep using them...

Just my opinion ... you always do nice woodwork. But to ME the pickguard doesn't cut it. I would have gone for a Tortoise shell looking pickguard. But anyway, that's one cool guitar and nice idea on the Shadow system.

Thank you Dave!
So may flavors...

With a quick Motherboard swap the shadow system can provide a Midi output for some of the more adventurous players.
Instead of stuffing the battery inside I use an "N" type jack and velcro'd the battery to the stereo chord.

Tourtoise would be nice. Similar Burled Madrone or Walnut would be cool. This was what I had.

Sometimes you have to take risks to discover the truth...

It goes back together tomorrow. The only addition will be a little more shielding.

Now that I know it works the electronics will go onto a Deacon.

No... not that Deacon.

The Piezo saddle pieces are exact fits for the pieces on the Chrome Schaller Bridge. The rest is just hiding the wiring. The motherboard is sitting in the middle pup area on the PF Primus.
