Hi, y'all. I haven't been here in a coon's age. Been busier than the law allows.

I have a Celebrity acoustic bass that was given to me about 12 years ago. I was cataloging my guitars for insurance purposes and when I took it out of the case to check the serial number it looked like the neck needs to have the relief adjusted. I've been playing a little over 50 years and have been doing my own setup for about half that time, so I don't need real detailed information, but I'm pretty sure that, because of the length of the scale, I'm looking at a slightly different procedure from a regular guitar.

Question 1: Do I depress the 1st fret and the 14th fret prior to taking measurements and at which fret do I take the measurements?

Question 2: What should the clearances be?

I'd rather have some specs before I just start punting.

Any help will be appreciated.

Michael

Here is the manual for the electric Bass

Magnum Owner\'s Manual

For an acoustic bass the technique would be the same even if the measurement was different.
