Location: Boise, Idaho | My daughter is staging a benefit concert tomorrow April 17 in honor of her friend from Port Orchard, Washington, Molly Hightower. Molly died in the Haiti earthquake when the building collapsed on her and Rachel. Rachel was pulled out. The proceeds go to Friends of the Orphans, the group Molly volunteered for.
The concert is at Stadium High School in Tacoma. Besides the fact that my daughter is an Ovation fan and owner, one of the musical acts is Damon's band. When Rachel needed a band, Damon volunteered. Thanks, Damon. Hope anyone in the area can attend. You can find more info by googling Molly Hightower and April 17. Our other daughter designed the poster that you'll find. Their dad is too dumb to do a link. |

| Awesome! Way to step up, Damon. Something like this is close to my heart, not because of a Haiti connection, but because we just brought back our adopted daughter from an Indian orphanage. Hope they raise a ton of money. |

Weaser, she's doing very well, but has some "survivor's guilt" and has much less patience for normal life activities. She's trying to work through it with activities like this.
Serge, the orphanage has been doing pretty well with fundraising. They need to rebuild the building the girls were in and are going to dedicate it to Molly. It was their old hospital/orphanage, but fortunately they moved to a newer one that survived the quake nicely. FOTO has received the proceeds of the sales of 3 of my Ovations to other OFC members. Thanks again to those folks.
Wish I could go see Damon, but I have to work all weekend. He's part of a variety show of sorts. Rachel hadn't done anything like this and was stressed out for awhile, but it seems to be going together. Moving the acts on and off, getting and hooking up the equipment ("Damon asked if there was a DI, Dad, what's that?" "I don't know, ask Damon.") That sort of stuff. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I owe Damon a nice bottle of Syrah. At least. SWMBO talked to Rachel yesterday and she is so excited about this concert that it is the first time she has really felt happy since the earthquake. That's priceless. It didn't hurt that Seattle is finally getting some nice weather. |

Wait, what am I saying? Send some booze!
I'm glad Rachel's in better spirits. I'll try not to be too much of a pain for her.
We go on first. 7PM. Not sure what the other acts are. After us could be some tree-hugger sittin' on a stool singin' Kumbaya with a didgeridoo accompaniment. Should be interesting.
It's a good cause. I have no $, so it's my way of helping out. Plus I get a bottle of wine. |

Damon, this may be the first time you will be the most "normal" musical act around.
I will be glad to give you a ride to an OFC gathering, but my ride won't have room for your guitars. I can't do the 17 guitars in the back of the rig like you did. I'm trying to figure out which one I can take to South Dakota. |

Location: Jet City | Mark, things went great. Music for Molly was on both the local Fox and ABC channels. Rachel introduced us as "My dad introduced me to this band...." I felt really old right then.
Rachel did a great job both behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. I can't imagine doing what she did tonight. And what is she, 12?
Aside from Rachel being plastered all over the tube, so was yours truly and the rest of the band. The ABC coverage had "Comfortable" playing through the entire story. I had several close-ups, pretty cool really.
I hope Rachel was happy with how we did for her. She put up a good front if she wasn't.
I'll search the web for the news stories |

| Well done Damon (and the rest of the band).
And well done Rachel. A really positive act at what must still be a very difficult time for her.
She should be very proud of herself - and we'll let you have a little glow of pride as well Mark. |

I wish she was 12. I'd be a lot younger. Her resume for a 22 year old kid is much more impressive than mine...if I had one. |

Mark, you certainly have a wonderful daughter. Molly sounds like she was an exceptional young woman.

Damon got a bit more air time on KOMO. The turnout was disappointing, but they raised about $1800, so that will help, along with the good publicity. Let me know who your agent is, Damon, so I can have Rachel refer all inquiries. |

Location: Jet City | Mark, when I showed up, there were a good couple dozen people running around. I hadn't seen a picture of her, but I picked her out of the crowd real easy. First thing I said, "You look just like your dad"
I hope she at least got her mother's follicle genes. |
