OK ... What exactly is the process used in resetting a neck?(on an Adamas) After pulling the shims and loosening the truss rod, I still can't seem to get the action down close on the upper end of my 1581. The neck doesn't appear to be warped, so all I can think of is a reset. It's not "bad" but it is also nowhere near as nice as my 08C or 09C.

And in a worse case scenario, what do you think the posibility and or cost would be to switch it over to a wider, cauflower AD I neck and bridge?

Not sure about the 1581, but it should be the same as my 1681 which has a bolt on neck. I believe it would have to be cut to change the angle, but easier than a glued on neck. Probably could be done by a local luthier, but I would suggest the factory.
BTW, I wouldn't try calling Ovation. They don't seem to answer the phone. Email works better.

I KNOW the mothership can do it(and do it right), but last time I had work done they told me that Elderly in Lansing is also capable of doing a lot of good work there also. My reason for asking all this is to determine if it is going to be cost effective to ship both ways to CT IF this is not major repair work. I am taking a trip tomorrow and will be passing by there, so it would make sense to drop it off there if it is not a big job. I DID call the MS and haven't received a reply yet, so I thought I would ask the question here and maybe get a good answer from some of the very factory-knowledgeable people here. Just a reminder ... I just put out quite a bit of money on some major work through the factory, so if I can save some scratch on this by doing it local I am going to give it a try.

Hi Bryan,
if it has a bolt on it's neck, look weather it is well tightened. I think the same problem was with my walnut elite, it was slacky. I've tightened it and it is playable like new.

Bryan loosening the truss rod will make the action higher.
