Setup / Action Question

bvince Posted 2010-04-24 11:01 AM (#373576) Subject: Setup / Action Question Joined: September 2005 Posts: 3619 Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) I have learned to really enjoy playing with a low action for fingertyle, but of course the lower it is, the more chance of creating fret buzz when strumming. So I kept a couple guitars at medium action for the times I really want to lay it on. Now my question ... Can lowering the action on a guitar cause a reduction of the sustain? On my Country Artist the action was really low when I got it. It plays VERY nicely, but it doesn't seem to have the nice sustain that I am accustomed to on other nylon string guitars I've owned. I'm wondering if by raising the action a bit if that would improve the sustain? moody, p.i. It's really a guitar that's meant to be plugged in.....
