ProCo Rat's can be found pretty cheap (I got one I'll sell cheap if you go that way).

Can you describe the sound you are looking for? Do you really mean Fuzz? or Overdrive, Distortion, etc... It's all subjective, but any input would help us... help you.

My vote would be Maestro Fuzz Tone or Big Muff.

I believe a Maestro was actually used on Satisfaction. One on eBay now.. http://digg.com/u3V6Ol

Yes it reminds me of a univox fuzz I had many, many years ago. Very good at low volumes the Big Muff to muddy at low volume. And the little big was better but for my use this nano muff is just right.
