Location: Nashville TN. | Seems to be that strings kinda wore away some of the wood on the bridge. Anyone else have this happen?
Is there a fix short of replacing the bridge? |

I was tempted to suggest string tubes.... |

How 'bout aligning the ball ends openings and putting an ol' low E string, cut to length, thru 'em. That may help a bit until you get better info from the 'pros' here. |

Location: London, UK | Stiff wire through the 6 ball ends. Pros: May improve sustain and give a brighter tone. Cons: difficult to change out a single string.

And then do the nylon-string trick with your steel-string ball-end.
That will make the ends larger, plus lessen the wear until you figure-out a Real repair.
Hope that helps! (It is really late/early here... ) |

I'd be interested to know if anyone else tries it. Note the wire extends a little wider the strings to make good contact with the bridge as well as all the ball ends.
You'll be ripping out those string tubes... ;) |

I love it!
More believable than String Tubes (patent pending) and quite eloquent.
You can also dab some Cyano Glue in the area to Polymerize the wood. |

Location: kansas | maybe you could drill out the string holes and add Telecaster-String-Ferrules:
