Location: Brisbane Australia | In response to the multitude of questions that are posed here about setting up a Ovation guitar what about creating an individual thread with a blow by blow description with relevent pics of how to set up our beloved instruments.
I know there are many sites on the net that cover this.....but not particular to Ovation.
If it was a permanent thread or link it would be easily available to all.
Thoughts.......??

I would never advocate for total neubs doing potentially traumatic adjustments to their guitars, but you know as well as I do, that they are going to DO IT ANYWAY!!
At least this way they will have the benefit of the best advice possible from the most caring, informed people there are...
"... OK, children... today we will be learning how to put a condom on a banana...", lol |

What makes an Ovation different from any other guitar as far as from an engineering standpoint? Nut height, saddle height, neck relief, frets, etc... Google "how to set up a guitar" and you will find more than enough information to keep you busy for years, and it's pretty much ALL applicable to any Ovation/Adamas. This man is one of the best. |

Long enough to open the box, take pictures (while waiting for his wife to mow the lawn) set them up, box them up and send them to the next guy. I left out "play them" because I wasn't sure TJ does that. |

(That's 'Hoarder Jim', not 'Trader Jim', BTW.) That is the true downside that most people don't think about when they start collecting. Once you have more than 100 or even only 50 guitars, they one you want to play TODAY likely needs new strings and some sort of adjustment. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Just jealous. Mine did help me set up some of the guitars next to the cars for last year's calendar, but gave me that disgusted look and a few comments to match.
On the other hand, there's probably not too many that would put up with us, much less take a guitar/car road trip for 2 weeks. |
