As you can see, I'm still tossing about some ideas for a gathering here in NY.

First idea is to still have the gathering on 09/11-09/12, but to have it in Woodstock, NY. We could play all day on Saturday and on Sunday go to the Woodstock Museum at Bethel Woods (about 1 1/2 hours from Woodstock).

Or..........

Have the gathering on 10/23 and 10/24. Play all day on Saturday and then go and check out this guitar show on Sunday:

www.woodstockinvitational.com

Another option for this (for those who can only make it for the day) is to play for a good part of the day, then stop around 5:00 and head over to the guitar show. After the show, we could have dinner.

Just a few thoughts. Would appreciate some feedback.

FTR, I am taking a six week computer course starting today. I might not be posting on the board much, but I'll definitely be checking my PMs, email and this board.

Michelle - too soon to say for sure regarding the schedule, but I'd definitely be up for the trip.

Hmmmm....

Is it permissible to attend a gathering even if logistics prevent bringing any guitars?

If so, how long is the drive from NYC to Woodstock?

Sure you can come. I plan on bringing my two boys (The Patriot and the 02 Collectors, which I have named Jim and Maury).

The ratio of guitars to people at these gatherings is usually 2 to 1.

I will have to work on the logistics of Woodstock also. There are a few bed and breakfasts in Woodstock, but no chain hotels (there are a few chain hotels in Saugerties, about 11 miles away).

I might take a drive down there sometime this weekend and check things out again.

Ours have always been much better than 2 to 1. Of course g8rbowl may not be a fair comparison. G8r will already have a dozen there, and Beal brings another 10.

Actually, that is not a bad idea. I just have to see how the finances/schedule will be.

When Damon picked me up at the airport it cut his 17 to 1 ratio in half, but when we gathered at Miles' it probably tripled.

Car pooling sounds like a great idea! Only one small problem...if we assume two guitars per guy, that's six guitars, and three ummmmmmmmm... BIGgish guys -- plus miscellaneous equipment -- anyone got a BIGgish truck?

For a one day thing I would only bring 1. I am pretty sure I could fit 4-5 in the back with room for 2 passengers. (Yes it would be tight for the one in the back) If only 2 of us go , it will be NO problem to bring 4-6 guitars.

Hmmmmm...not an overly long trip. We can probably rotate the backseat assignment.

So sad! :( Don't think that I will make it.
Not that two days of driving and caffeine would bother me, I just don't own a vehicle.

Total Travel Estimate: 44 hours 31 minutes / 2944.10 miles

3.5 hour drive on a good day... I could be there. I just need to know what day and a hotel room for the night.

Drove down to Woodstock, was feeling 'bout half past dead........

I think I found a couple of different options for the weekend of 10/23-20/24 in Woodstock. It will be a load of fun, I'm sure.

I was told that the Woodstock Invitational got a lot of good publicity last year and that it is a cool show to go to.

Auriemma, I definitely will keep people updated!

Woodstock may be a small town, but I still have to try to figure out the logistics of where to play and where to stay. I was told that I might have to book a place in advance because of the publicity surrounding the guitar show.

I'm certainly looking forward to this.
